“I’ve always been a seeker, seeking connection and depth,” says Erin, UUSGS congregant and past board president. Erin found belonging in our congregation as her authentic self: “I felt that I didn’t have to perform. I could show up and be just the way I was. ... I feel held in the space, but not confined.”

At UUSGS, Erin found a community where members contribute to something beyond themselves by being their real selves, regardless of specific religious beliefs.

"Be curious, not judgmental." -- attributed to Walt Whitman (made famous again by Ted Lasso)

This morning, we continue our curious journey... with special attention to our grounding in Nature. Together, we'll explore and celebrate how inner and outer vistas inform one another, awakening curiosity about oneself and the world. Featuring some extra music and a timely message, you're sure to leave uplifted!

"Curiosity will conquer fear even more than bravery will." — James Stephens

"The cure for boredom is curiosity." --- Dorothy Parker

Wow... a cure for boredom and fear?! Why then, in mainstream religious thought, is so little made of curiosity? Is this oversight, or is it by design?

For the inquisitive mind, curiosity is a foundational practice. Whether in science or in religion -- or in relationships and history -- curiosity is a doorway to deeper understanding.

This Sunday, we'll continue our exploration of curiosity by being cuious not only about what is in front of us but also about what came before. Curiosity has shaped our tradition in important ways. Rev. Jason & Worship Associate Jackie Shanti will invite us to consider how we got to where we are today, individually and collectively.

Join us at 9:30AM (in person) or 11AM (in person or online). All are welcome!

We're grilling tonight at Soulful Supper! Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Veggie burgers too! All are welcome!

"People can die from hardening of the categories." -- James Luther Adams, UU theologian

"I am large... I contain multitudes." -- Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself"

We need categories. Categories help us to understand risk, connection, who our "people" are. But categories can also be limiting. No one likes being put in a box.

The same can be said of identity. Many Buddhist teachers have described identity as an attachment, something we should try to let go of. But identity can also be hugely helpful, no? After all, sometimes our boxes are those of our own making.

This Sunday, we kick off a new monthly theme -- Awakening Curiosity -- by turning our lens to categories and idenities that often seem fixed. Curiosity asks us to awaken to the multitudes within, among, and beyond us.

Join us for Worship at 9:30 AM (in person) or 11AM (in person or online). And then stay afterwards for the last performance of THE PROM presented by Unity House Players. All are welcome!
