Elliott Avenue Baptist Church

Elliott Avenue Baptist Church Welcome to EABC! We are a small church sharing the love of Christ with our community and the world as best we can!

Formally located at 501 W Elliott Avenue (corner of Elliott and Bond Avenue) Elliott was planted in North-Central Springfield from Central Baptist Church way back in 1908. The church has changed quite a bit since it's planting over 100 years ago, we've gone through times of abundance and famine and we've had heartaches and joys, but one thing has not changed in all those years, our mission - neigh

borhood engagement. In truth we've struggled with our ability to engage our community in recent years, but we continue to do what we can as best we can. Update: A combination of factors followed by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of our beloved church. Our memories and mission live on in its people.

This is from Rich Kinner:

I am asking for prayers for one of my daughters and her youngest son, his dad and family. His dad had a mountain bike accident over the weekend and is paralyzed from the neck down. I found out a little while ago he has been moved out of the ICU. There is fund for him on facebook if anybody would like to donate. His name is Aaron Watchel
After he gets released from the hospital he will have to get intensive therapy for spinal cord injuries which will not be in Springfield.

Immediate prayer request from James and Kristina Martin:

Kristina and I made it to the hospital just as my sister Brenda was being wheeled off for surgery and got a chance to pray for her.

We spoke to a nurse who said she is “full of clots” (specifically referencing her spleen, aortic artery (which leads directly to the heart) and legs). She may be in danger of losing her legs, if not her life.

Surgery may take 2-4 hours.

Procedure she’s having right now: Endovascular Repair Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

The nurse also told me she has (and might not know right now) that she has nodules on her lungs and thyroid, too.

Update: We just spoke to the doctor. He has been a cardiac thoracic surgeon for 33+ years and says he has NEVER seen a case like hers - nor has any of the surgeons he spoke with prior to the surgery. A bizarre case.

He was able to completely remove a walnut-sized “goomba” (i.e., clot) from her aortic artery without it breaking up and flowing further “downstream” to her legs. It had already broken up a bit and particles were in her right kidney and spleen.

He’ll be doing a full work up in the days ahead to address the ovarian cyst.

Appreciate your prayers!!!
