Concerts at Christ Episcopal Church presents. . .
Chamber Music: Trios by Mozart and Brahms
Sunday, May 17th, at 3 PM
The leading regional musicians Mary Davis, Christopher Durrenberger, Robert Pfeiffer, and Deborah Price will present chamber music for clarinet, cello, viola, piano, and pianoforte at Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield. Free parking is available.
Come experience Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio in E-flat Major K. 498 (1786) and Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A Minor Op. 14 (1891). The first two movements of the Mozart will be played on a pianoforte that replicates the pianoforte used by Mozart.
This is the third concert in the series “Concerts at Christ Episcopal Church,” and a freewill offering will be taken to help support future events.
Mary Davis (cello), hailed as “an unusually fine cellist,” currently performs with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and UCelli, the Columbus Cello Quartet. Her interests and activities have ranged from baroque performance—as principal cellist and soloist with the Columbus Bach Ensemble—to contemporary music, including premieres of many works. Mary teaches cello privately in Clintonville and online.
Christopher Durrenberger (piano and pianoforte) is a Professor Emeritus of Music at Wittenberg University, where he taught for 26 years. He has earned national and international competition prizes and was a National Endowment for the Arts Artist-in-Residence during 1992-93. He has performed across North America, North Africa, and Asia, and frequently performs and conducts master classes in China.
Robert Pfeifer (clarinet) is currently the principal clarinetist of several orchestras, including the New Albany Symphony Orchestra, the Central Ohio Symphony and the Opera Project Columbus Orchestra. He is also the second clarinetist in the Worthington Chamber Orchestra and the bass clarinetist in the Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra.
Deborah Price (viola) is on the music faculty of both Denison University and Ohio Wesleyan University and is the principal viola for the Worthington Chamber Orchestra and Opera Project Columbus. She is also the artistic director and founder of the Chamber Music Connection, which provides education and performance opportunities for music students of all ages and skill levels.
