Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission (BGFM)

Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission (BGFM) Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission seeks to Evangelize the lost, Disciple the believers, Plant Churches and Train Leaders in Brazil. What Lies Ahead?

BGFM History:

The BGFM ministry began in 1939 in Sobral, Ceara located in Northeast Brazil. The Mission was officially organized in 1945 and incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1955. In the 40s and 50s, missionary ministries in Brazil were difficult due to religious opposition and unimproved roads. However, during those years a good number heard the Gospel and small churches were establish

ed along with special training schools for men and women.

1960-1979 - The seeds planted in those early years began to flourish. A good number of new missionaries joined those who were involved in the early planting. New churches were established along with several special ministries. Those ministries were Radio, Film, Theological Education by Extension, Bible Camp and Bible Institute. The special training schools for men and women continued. BGFM missionaries spent many hours every week training Brazilians, both in the local church and through the special ministries. As a result, the Brazilian leadership grew in all areas of our ministries. An Association of Churches was established providing fellowship for all of the churches and opportunities to plan and set goals together. A national ministry organization was established for sending out Brazilian missionaries to new areas in Brazil.

1980-1999 - Working along-side Brazilian brothers and sisters provided a new emphasis in the ministry. The leadership of the Association of Churches went from being all missionaries to all Brazilians. During these years, many churches were turned over to Brazilian leadership. Many of the special ministries now included Brazilians in important positions or roles. During the early 80s, the BGFM and the GMU began joint administration of the SIBIMA Seminary. This school has had a vital part in training leaders, many of whom are now serving as pastors in our churches. Both missionaries and Brazilians are involved in teaching in the Seminary and Bible Institute. Christian grade schools were started by missionaries and nationals, providing excellent opportunities for evangelism and training. The millennium ended with many of BGFM’s goals realized, especially in relationship to having established national churches.

2000-Present - Now What? We are grateful that presently there are over 70 established national churches with Brazilian pastors. These churches are burdened for spreading the Gospel and are supporting Brazilian missionaries serving in rural areas and cities in various locations throughout Brazil. Recently, their sights have become focused on foreign missions. In 2007, they formed a new mission organization for sending Brazilians to other countries. Missions conferences are important parts of the yearly schedules of the churches, Seminary and Bible Institute. The process of evangelism and training leadership continues to be a vital part of the Brazilian churches. In 2 Timothy 2:2, God’s Word encourages us to train faithful men so that they, in turn, will train others. Gratefulness flows from our lips as we realize that God has allowed BGFM missionaries to have a part in His wonderful plan of building His Church. Special ministries have always been vital to the overall goal of the BGFM. The ministries established in earlier years continue and have experienced steady growth. In 2007, the SIBIMA Seminary was completely turned over to Brazilian ownership and leadership. In 2008, a new field in Southern Brazil was opened. Several BGFM and Brazilian missionaries are teaming up to minister in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. God has richly blessed the BGFM with 19 families and 4 single ladies serving as missionaries on our fields in Brazil. At present, we minister in the states of Ceara, Alagos, Rio Grande do Norte and Rio Grande do Sul. State-side we have two couples serving in the Home Office, along with part-time administrative assistants, and one couple on loan to another ministry. Seven couples and a single lady have retired from BGFM since 1993. Together with our Brazilian brothers and sisters in Christ, we continue to reach out to Brazilians with the Gospel message.

Meus queridos parceiros no ministério,

Pastor Daniel

Happy Birthday to me! 1:30 AM. Can’t sleep because of exciting news about ministry expansion to the super needy people of Mozambique. Partnerships are coming together. Initial team members are being provided by the Lord of the Harvest in answer to our prayers (Luke 10:2).

Why am I telling you all of this? Facebook encouraged me to pick a worthy charity for my birthday. I would love to see God provide for my dear co-workers in Mozambique. Both husband and wife have earned PhD degrees and have abandoned opportunity for easy life as teachers in the US to return to their needy homeland. They are faithful servants of God who have need of a reliable vehicle. Half of the need has been provided already.

So please don’t send me a 3XL shirt, especially not a KC Chiefs shirt! But if you’d like to pitch in toward this need, contact me or go to bgfmission.com BGFM is a registered non-profit.

Thank you for reading my birthday wish. Now I will try again to sleep!

BGFM is a missionary agency which was organized to bring the true Gospel of Christ to Brazil. Now, BGFM is expanding so that trained Brazilian missionaries can bless other nations.

Location: Aracaju, Sergipe

============================================
Dear Friends, we are so grateful for God’s
goodness.

My family is very enthusiastic about serving the Lord. Daniele is a woman with many abilities and uses
them to serve the Lord. Damaris is growing in the Lord. She decided to continue her studies at Frontier
and at the same time do an online course in Administration. João Marcos is growing in physical stature
and in the Lord. He is beginning a computer course. He was asked to have Adam Lancaster work with him
to begin a Bible study with the young people from school.

Blessings:
During our first year in Aracaju, God opened many doors for us to share the Gospel. We have weekly Bible
studies with unsaved people in different locations throughout the city. We have one family especially that
God has blessed (Carlos and Mercia and their sons Breno and Felipe). The Lord has given us opportunities
to work with couples doing evangelism, discipleship, counseling, and group meetings.

Oud need:
Having a car helps the ministry. We were able to use the Lancasters’ car while they were in the US on
furlough. They recently returned on April 10th to become part of our ministry team. We are very thankful
for their presence. However, we are now without a car and are seeking to raise funds for a car for our
ministry.
We are also awaiting anxiously the Johansen’s return in September.

Prayer Requests:
FAMILY – that God will supply our needs.
BIBLE STUDIES – that God would save the couples who have heard the Gospel, and also give us
opportunity to have more Bible studies.
SALVATION - Celso and Adriana; Alex and Conceição; André and Wlaéria; Rodrigo Paixão and Ingrid;
Rodrigo and Ionara; Erasmo and Aryane; Marcelo and Elisângela; Moacir and Paula; Márcio and
Marilene.
CARLOS – that God would provide work for him.
ADAM LANCASTER – for his adjustment to a new city and ministry.
ROGER JOHANSEN – that his house in Maceió would sell.
CAR – that God would provide the funds necessary to purchase a car.

++ If you would like to help us purchase a car, you can specifically designate your
contribution: for car purchase.++

God is good.
Thank you for your prayers and for your part in missions.
May God bless you.

UPDATE:
*Jeanie moving to a regular room*
October 14, 2018
11:10 a.m.

The MRI results confirm that mom had a stroke/AVC.

Additional exams to be performed tomorrow will tell us more.

Praise with us for the downgrade to a regular hospital room.

Ken - for the Stucky's

10/13/2018

Jeanie Stucky appears to have had a light stroke. Please pray as we navigate the jungle of medical care which serves our corner of the world.
Last night she stayed in the ICU and she will soon be getting an MRI ordered by the Neurologist.
Jeanie is alert and communicative, but words have been illuding her. There are signs of improvement, however, and we should know lots more in a few hours.
