Today is Juneteenth. June Nineteenth, or “Juneteenth”, celebrates what happened in 1865: Federal troops arriving in Galveston, Texas two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to ensure all enslaved people would be free.
We honor this day as a nation, celebrating the freedom it gave. We honor this day as a church to remember to always strive towards unity in the body of Christ and further break down the barriers of division the enemy tries to erect.
Let today bring unity and peace in all that we do.
