Today we are gathering the labyrinth to clean it up a little, refresh some of the markings and try ironing it! If you would like to help, come join in the fellowship hall at First Baptist at 9-12. We may not stay that long if we get work done early. And tomorrow, come walk with us!

Autumn Labyrinth Walk Scheduled for Saturday, September 27

First Baptist Church will host an Autumn Labyrinth Walk at the Living Vine Labyrinth on Saturday September 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Springfield, Ohio located at 638 S. Fountain Avenue. Enter quietly through the east door off the parking lot (opposite Rocking Horse Center) and come down the stairs. The Autumn Labyrinth Walk will be a time to walk with God in this season as summer transitions into fall. If you have never walked a labyrinth before, there will be people on hand to orient you. At 9 a.m. Nancy Flinchbaugh will lead a short devotional on “Letting Go into Autumn” with suggestions for your walk. The labyrinth will be open from 9:30-10:30. At 10:30 there will be a Listening Circle to share thoughts and experiences.
The Living Vine Labyrinth is a canvas labyrinth that is a sacred space for prayer and walking meditation. The labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice becoming a popular again among many Christians and persons of other faith traditions. Information will be available on ways to walk the labyrinth, although there is no one “right” or “wrong” way to walk. Many find the silent walk is a powerful spiritual time. The path winds around in a circular pattern leading to the center where walkers usually pause for prayer, and then walk back out.
Nancy Flinchbaugh is a certified labyrinth facilitator with Veriditas and has completed training in contemplative leadership with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation.
The labyrinth is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted for upkeep and future programming. Message us for more information.

Come join us at the labyrinth for a contemplative Saturday morning. We will consider the blessings of springtime and and look forward to walking with God through summertime as the longest day of the Summer Solstice approaches. Gather at 9 for a short time of reflection and prayer. Walk from 9:30-10:30. Meet again to share your experience at 10:30.

Winter Solstice Advent Labyrinth Walk on Saturday, December 21

First Baptist Church will host a Winter Solstice Advent Labyrinth Walk at the Living Vine Labyrinth on Saturday, December 21 from 9-11 am in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Springfield, Ohio located at 638 S. The Winter Solstice Advent Labyrinth Walk will be a time to walk with God in this season of dark nights, as autumn changes to winter, and the light of God continues to shine in the beauty of Advent. If you have never walked a labyrinth before, there will be people on hand to orient you. At 9 am there will be a short devotional on “Walking in the Dark, Holding Light” with suggestions for your walk. The labyrinth will be open from 9:30-11:30. At 11:30 there will be a Listening Circle to share thoughts and experiences.

At First Baptist Church Springfield Ohio, our Creation Justice Team planned the worship time to celebrate the Summer Solstice and listen to God in nature. We had planned ot meet outdoors at Mitchell Meadows, but because of much needed rain, we will be meeting at church instead. The Living Vine Labyrinth will be available for walking and there's a picnic potluck indoors after worship. So come if you can!

Good Morning First Baptist! God is blessing us with much needed rain this morning, so we will have worship as usual in the sanctuary, celebrating the Summer Solstice and listening to God's word in creation, using photos and videos of nature scenes.

The picnic potluck lunch will be upstairs in the lounge and entryway, so leave your dishes on the table there.

We look forward to worshiping together.

The Living Vine Labyrinth will be open this Saturday, March 16, from 1-3 pm to celebrate the Spring Equinox and also to give an opportunity for a prayerful walk during Lent. All welcome! Come join us at First Baptist Church Springfield Ohio! Enter at the doors opposite Rocking Horse and come down the stairs quietly. Free and open to the public. Recommendations for your walk at 1 p.m. Open walking 1:30-2:30, closing circle at 2:30.

The Autumn Labyrinth Walk will be a time to walk with God in this season of change, letting go and grief. If you have never walked a labyrinth before, there will be people on hand to orient you. At 10:00 am Debbie Copeland and Nancy Flinchbaugh will lead a short devotional tie on “A Season of Change” with suggestions for your walk. The labyrinth will be open from 10:30-11:30. At 11:30 there will be a Listening Circle to share thoughts and experiences.
