After company leaves, go pray through your house. I know that may sound strange. I know you are tired and the dishes are piled up and you just want to sit down. But stay with me for a second.
Every single person who walks through your front door carries something with them. Their worry. Their offense. Their grief. Their unresolved bitterness. Their spiritual atmosphere. And they do not always take all of it with them when they leave. Some of it lingers. In the living room where the conversation got tense. In the kitchen where the comment was made that everyone pretended not to notice. In the air that just feels a little different than it did before they arrived and you cannot explain why but you feel it.
You have felt it. You know exactly what I am talking about.
There is a reason Nehemiah inspected the walls. A reason David inquired of the Lord before he moved. A reason the priests did not just build the temple, they consecrated it. Dedicated it. Covered every corner of it intentionally before they ever invited the presence of God to fill it.
Your home is not a temple by accident. It is a temple by assignment. Assignment requires maintenance.
After the holidays. After the family visit that left you emotionally exhausted. After the friend who means well but always leaves something heavy behind. After the gathering that was beautiful but loud and full and now the walls need to breathe again.
Walk through it. Open your mouth. Pray over every room they touched. Reclaim the atmosphere you spent thirty days building.
Because your home is not just where people visit. It is where the presence of God dwells. And you are the one He appointed to keep it that way.
