Bent Oak Church

Bent Oak Church Join us for worship, Sunday mornings at 10am. We meet at Grace Classical Academy, located at 2438 E. Cherry St, Springfield, Missouri. Our church is simple.

Bent Oak Church started in the summer of 2012. A few families joined together in a home to worship, study scripture, and discover where God was leading us. Each year our commitment to each other has grown deeper and our confidence in God’s guiding presence more solidified. There is no big vision or master plan—just a commitment to one another and a desire to remain faithful wherever God leads us.

In September 2015, the church began meeting at the Ozark Community Center. We hold regular Sunday morning worship services each week at 10 am. Additionally, we regularly meet in homes for communion services and special events. Bent Oak Church is affiliated with The Assemblies of God.

As we celebrate Easter, we turn to Paul’s famous speech in Athens. At the heart of his message was the bold proclamation that Jesus had died and been raised to life. Resurrection was not a popular idea in the ancient world, yet Paul made it central to his preaching. In this message, we take a closer look at why the Resurrection still matters in a world that continues to reject its claims.

Acts 15 contains one of the clearest and most powerful pictures of church unity, yet in that same chapter, Luke records one of the New Testament’s most ordinary disagreements. We explore what led to the split between Paul and Barnabas and consider how their story shapes the way we think about conflict, calling, and the work God continues to do in His church.

Acts 15 contains one of the greatest depictions of church unity yet; Luke includes in the same chapter one of the most trivial disagreements of the New Testament. We look at what caused the separation between Paul and Barnabas and recognize how it helps us think about our own church experiences and....

In thinking about and praying about Linda's funeral this weekend, I've been relistening to her Immanuel testimony from 2017. I think you would find it meaningful and a testimony of who we all knew Linda to be.

Linda Bates shares her story of how God revealed himself through faithfulness and healing.

Recorded between the dramatic scenes of Saul’s conversion and Peter’s calling to Cornelius are two unexpected miracles and a small detail about Peter’s accommodations in Joppa. These stories play no major role in the plot of Acts, so why has Luke decided to place them between such major turning points?

As Peter and John’s preaching began to draw a crowd in the temple, they were arrested and questioned. But Peter was not intimidated. He spoke the truth with a boldness and clarity that astonished the leaders. As we study the passage, we discover how it encourages us to live and speak today by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The religious leaders sought Jesus’ death, but they lacked the authority to carry out the sentence. They needed Rome. So, they handed Jesus over to Pilate. His death came as the leaders of the world united around His ex*****on. In this sermon, we take a closer look at Jesus’ interrogation before Pilate and Herod Antipas.

The Chief Priests and elders sent spies to trap Jesus with their questions. They appeared to be sincere, but Jesus saw through their questions. He answered them with remarkable insight and then turned the crowd’s attention to an image of true sincerity. We take a closer look at how our own lives can be disguised by false sincerity.
