Shirrells to Japan

Shirrells to Japan We are church planting missionaries to Japan. Our mission is to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Japan who are 99.7% not Christian.

Our Beliefs

-Perfect Bible
We believe in divine inerrancy and infallibility of the sixty-six books of the Bible. It is in fact, the very Word of God.

-Christ as Savior
We believe that God the Son incarnated Himself in a perfect human body, lived a sinless life and died a substitutionary death. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of lost mankind.

-Resurrection of Jesus Christ
We believe H

e arose bodily from the grave where His body had remained three days and nights. We believe He arose a victor over death, Hell and the grave.

-Salvation
We believe that all men are sinners and therefore stand guilty before God. Only through repentance and faith can a person receive Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord.

-Church
We believe that Jesus Christ established His church during His earthly ministry. We believe it to be an assembly of baptized believers united by a common statement of faith.

-Preservation of the Saved
We believe Jesus Christ keeps those who by faith receive Him as their Savior.

-Priesthood of all Believers
We believe that every believer has access directly to the Father without the aid of an earthly priest.

We would like to thank everyone for your messages, we are safe and quite far from the recent earthquake. We do have a friend in Kumamoto visiting family, but she is reporting that she is safe! Please continue to pray for Kumamoto and all those affected by the earthquake.

Japan is known as a “missionary graveyard,” a place where the best work bears little fruit.

Despite church planting efforts, less than 1 percent of the country’s population is Christian. The Japanese remain one of the world’s largest unreached people groups.

Are there not enough planters? Or is there actually something wrong with the soil?

It's not often you see anything Christian here in Japan, aside from hearing Christmas carols in the stores during the holidays.

But this sign is one exception, it is one of 3 signs that we have seen around Gunma. They all look similar in color but each says something different. This one is in our little town on a random wall. A town with no church. It's been here for years, almost right across the street from our home, where we hold a service every other week in preparation of starting a church here. How cool is that?
It says something like "Seek forgiveness for your sins. -The Bible"

We don't know who put these signs up. But what we do know is that they are special to us!

Happy Resurrection Day!
Praise the Lord we can say:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?"

Here's a snippet of a special that was sung at church for Easter and Samson enjoying it!

Today was such a sweet day! The Children's Easter Event at Ota Church was wonderful! We had 28 in attendance. The Gospel was preached, games were played, snacks were won, cookies were decorated, but the most special part was that one of our neighbors showed up! This was their first time in church! We praise God for what he is doing in our community here in Japan! The Lord is at work and we are so privileged to take part in it!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We are so thankful for the abundant grace found in Christ! It is because of Christ that we can live everyday, with the good or bad that comes our way, with thankfulness! Knowing that God works all things for the good of those who love him, for his glory!

This Thanksgiving day we want to extend a sincere and hearty thank you to each one of you! What a privilege it is to be loved by so many, prayed for by so many, and supported by so many brothers and sisters in Christ! We do not take it lightly that God has blessed us with you!

With love and thanksgiving,
The Shirrells
