Our Lord...
I worry because I forget Your wisdom.
I resent because I forget Your mercy.
I covet because I forget Your beauty.
I sin because I forget Your holiness.
I fear because I forget Your sovereignty.
You always remember me. Help me to remember You.
~ Tim Keller

Brief Devotion: Spiritual Maturity

08/27/2026

Without free will we could not experience life as God intended. We could not appreciate God’s creation and blessings. We could not rise above disaster, and could not minister to others who suffer. We would be mindless automatons, mere robotic humans living in a pointless divine exercise.

I know this is for you today. For those who are tired and weary. The Father knows when a sparrow falls to the ground. He knows...

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;†

I have what I need.†

He lets me lie down in green pastures;†

he leads me beside quiet waters.†

He renews my life;

he leads me along the right paths†

for his name’s sake.†

Even when I go through the darkest valley,†

I fear no danger,

for you are with me;†

your rod and your staff — they comfort me.†

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil;†

my cup overflows.†

Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life,†

and I will dwell in† the house of the Lord as long as I live.†

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no works? Can such faith save them? - James 2:1

This is a massive problem in the American church. They can raise their hands and sing songs, talk christianese perfectly but know nothing about endurance, steadfastness or finding what needs to be done in the church and do it unto the Lord. Unless it's done to their liking, they just disappear.
Not realizing they will take their problems with them where ever they go. We never learn the lessons God wants to teach us, unless we stay still long enough to learn.

No use getting baptized if you're not going to live in newness of life.
Romans 6
Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer? Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
