On 9/5 we will have the Closing and Commissioning service for the Illinois Annual Conference. Today Bishop Wright ordained four ministers. It was very moving as usual. At the memorial service we paid tribute to matriarch and former First Lady, Flora Baber Benn. Come to St John's AME tomorrow as we close out our services.

We are having a successful Illinois Conference. On the morning of 9/4 we will have a memorial service followed by ordination and communion. Please come join us at St John's AME, 1529 E Capitol Ave. The youth will shine in the evening.

Remember that this week we are having the Illinois Annual Conference of AME Churches, hosted by St John's -Springfield. The Women's Missionary Society and Women in Ministry will begin activities September 2, and the full conference will start Sept 2 and end Sept 5.

On 8/16 we will again worship the Lord while thinking of the spirit of giving. Please fill the Imperial Credit Union box in the foyer with school supplies. The box will be there until August 19.
Also, we can think of the gently used items that we no longer need. We can bring them to church until Oct 2.
