Mental Health Month is coming up!

Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month?
Did you know CR has a Mental Health Ministry?

The Mental Health Ministry's mission is to equip local Celebrate Recovery's to empower individuals to achieve serenity with their mental health.

Our purpose is to raise awareness of mental health and create a safe place to continue conversations and to support mental health through the implementation of Mental Health Champions at each CR location. To encourage Christ-centered sponsorship, provide tools such as mental health forums, the Mental Health Agreement form and the CR Su***de Protocol. These tools help equip our leaders and sponsors to effectively walk alongside our participants struggling with mental health.

Celebrate Recovery is not a replacement for professional counseling, therapy, and/or medical treatment. We provide encouragement and support to supplement those efforts. Living with mental health issues can be difficult.

However, learning to walk in mental health recovery gives us hope. Living one day at a time, one moment at a time, implementing the 8 Principles and 12 steps, it is possible to live in peace and joy. Jesus cares about our mental health. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) He tells us "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

Let's look at Romans 12:2:
"When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful."

It's easy to be Joyful, Hopeful and full of energy when things are going your way, but how do you keep it together when you feel that things are not going your way? That's why being in Recovery can be challenging, but being in Recovery without God is non-negotiable.

God is asking us to remain patient and faithful no matter what. For some, this task might become manageable, and for others, this task might require work. Don't forget to have fun too. That's why the word Celebrate is before Recovery.

How can we pray for you today? If you feel comfortable listing your prayers below and also if you are a Prayer Warrior, please feel free to pray over these prayers as well.

No matter how hard we work, only by professing our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior can we experience His grace and have eternal life.

What are you leaning on Jesus for today?

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Scripture tells us that He did not give us a spirit of fear or being timid.

Fear traps us. It enslaves us. It keeps us from living the life that God has for us. You’re not alone when you share your hope in Christ. God is with you.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬

Pastor John Baker often said, "My biggest weakness became my greatest strength through Christ."

Rest assured that God has your back. His Grace is enough!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Our First step is a big one. We are finally ready to admit that we are powerless to control an addiction or behavior. Step 1 is about preparing to face our Hurts, Habits, and Hang-ups. If you have found healing and freedom through step 1, what are some victories that you would share with the NEWCOMER?

Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, and that our lives had become unmanageable.

I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18 NIV

What Mountains in your life are you asking God to move? Let's commit today to walk in faith and ask God to move any mountains blocking our access to his life plan!

Matthew 17:20
"He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

God was reminding Jerusalem in the book of Isaiah just how much he loves them. Then, Jesus proved it by adding our scars to the palms of his hands!

“Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on them in their suffering.

Yet Jerusalem says, “The Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.” “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!

See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins. Soon your descendants will come back, and all who are trying to destroy you will go away.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬
