Come home. 🥹🩵
Roughly 5 years ago, I sat on our couch in the living room alone in the silence. I had made up my mind that taking my life would be the only way out. My past felt so heavy & my present even heavier. My marriage was a wreck. I was living in sin. There was so much noise. I wanted to come home.. Imagine Jesus standing and knocking softly on the outside of my house - if you've ever watched Hoarders, that's the only way that I can describe it. I heard the knock that day, asking for me to let Him in. As I looked around, I had pushed so much junk in front of the door. So much trash. So much clutter. I felt as if I couldn't open the door, I couldn't get to the door even if I wanted to. And how could I open the door & invite someone into this mess. I was ashamed. Embarrassed. It felt too overwhelming. Just let me die in here, alone. This mess was mostly because of my own making. Jesus knocked again. "Climb over, just make a small path, let me in, we can tackle this together, you don't have to do this alone, you have to live." He wasn't asking me to move it all in that moment, He just wanted me to at least take the steps towards the door, whatever that looked like, and open it enough for Him to make His way inside. As I fought my way through the doubt, the guilt, the shame, the regrets, I cracked open the door. He answered with warmth & love. The filth, the hidden mice, the bugs, the smell of death didn't scare Him. It was as if He walked in and saw something I couldn't. He was excited to get to work. His eyes locked on me and not on the chaos around me. He saw something beautiful beyond my mess. I didn't know where to start but it's as if He knew. I took Him to the darkest part of the room, boxes that I had tried to burry. "That's perfect, just hand me one at a time." He was gentle. Kind. Patient. But our journey began that day. I decided I needed to come home to Him. I needed to come home to my church. You can come home. You're missed! You're apart of us. You're apart of what God wants to do in our city. He loves you so much. We love you so much. It's not too late. You can't do it without Him. You can't do it without the church. Believe me. I know. Just take the first step. Hand Him the first "box." ❤️
