All are welcome to attend a Solemn High Mass (Latin Mass) Thursday, Sept. 17, for the Feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis. Since it is the Holy Year of St. Francis, marking the 800 years since his passing, St. Stanislaus Basilica has been designated a holy site. There will be a large choir of members from the various traditional communities around the region to accompany the Mass. There will be program booklets that will have the Latin and English translations so everyone can follow. A reception will be held following Mass.

Ste Rose de Lima Parish in Chicopee will hold a 9/11 Memorial Mass, Friday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend as our nation marks 25 years since the horrific terror attacks. The Mass will honor and remember the innocent victims and selfless heroes of that day.

Bishop Byrne joined for the Dozynki celebration at Immaculate Conception Parish in Indian Orchard on Sunday. The special Polish Mass and tradition celebrates the gift of the summer harvest. After the 10 a.m. Mass, parishioners gathered for a meal prepared by volunteers including Immaculate Conception’s pastor, Father Piotr Calik.

200 educators met at St. Michael’s Academy for a safety personal development training. Massachusetts State Police taught the CRASE training. CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) is training for schools. It is a factual, survival-based program built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy designed to help staff and students react during an active threat. The Diocese of Springfield launched a Safety Task Force for schools and churches last year to bolster safety plans.
