Please join us on Sunday May 31, 2026. 10am -11am. Memories and Memorials with Will Hunter. Saturday, May 30, is the day that was originally designated as Memorial Day – before the holiday was commercialized to become the start of the summer season. June 6 is the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy Landing as part of D-Day.
Memories can be sweet – and they can be horrible. Memorial Day evokes images of lush green lawns with little American flags fluttering in the breeze, but the events that lie behind the holiday were far different from those images. How do we reconcile those two realities – not just when it comes to memories of war, but memories of our lives and the lives of our society?

Please join us on Sunday May 24, 2026. 10am -11am. "Healing Hands." with Jo Bregnard. You may not have ever realized it, but when you instinctively put your hand on a part of your body that’s hurting, you’re using an age-old technique to tend to yourself. The wisdom of acupressure has found its way into a variety of other healing modalities, and it lends itself to nurturing your body and soul, in a kind way. Learn a few techniques you can use to treat yourself with care every day, especially when the world feels heavy.

Please join us on Sunday May 17, 2026. 10am -11am.
Giving ourselves permission to cry with the Worship Committee.
“I’m sorry”, says the mother who’s weeping while in conversation with her friend about her child who has died. “I’m sorry” from the husband who has just gotten divorced. “I’m sorry!”. “I’m sorry!”. How often have we heard this when someone, in our country, especially, starts to feel sad and cry? What is this stigma about expressing our feelings? Why do we feel we can’t let others see when our emotions well up and spill over? In many other countries, it’s not only acceptable but a way of life to express these emotions, but here in our own country it’s frowned upon. People become uncomfortable, don’t know what to do for the crying one, and offer such “encouragement” as “It’s alright. You’ll be okay”. Keep a stiff upper lip, friend.
In actuality, the shedding of tears is a natural emotion, a response to overwhelming feelings of sadness, anger, and even joy.
What happens for you when you cry? Is it acceptable? Or are you embarrassed, maybe concerned for the one watching you cry? Share your thoughts this Sunday and let’s see if we can give ourselves permission to express all of our emotions.

Please join us on Sunday May 10, 2026. 10am -11am.
Mothers I Have Known with Rev. Dr. Nancy Jay Crumbine.
One mother was a famous poet. One, whom I knew well, raised me.
One, whom I met only once and briefly, wrote a book about motherhood that changed my life.
Several mothers I know have lost their children.
One mother made me a grandmother.
Several mothers, I know only through history, so loved the world that they gave their lives to improve the lives of future mothers.
I have known bird mothers, mice mothers and cat mothers.
And I have known sheep mothers giving birth.
In all of these relationships, from what is unsaid and unsayable, I have learned how to live a life that matters.

Please join us on Sunday May 3, 2026. 10am -11am. "Beltane and the Maypole" With Rev. Timothy Munroe M.S. Bel - meaning “Bright fire or lucky fire” in Gaelic. Tene - meaning “fire or flame” in Old Irish. Beltane also known as “Mayday” (The Order of the Bards, Ovates and Druids) marks the start of summer for the Celtic peoples, and there are a few methods for celebrating this day that “falls half-way between the spring equinox and the summer solstice” Bonfires, jumping over fires, dancing and the maypole. Fertility is the main theme behind Beltane and the maypole. The maypole, an obviously ph***ic symbol, gave a physical way for the ancient Celtic peoples a method of seeing and recognizing the energy and desire and need that they had agriculturally in needing their crops and livestock to grow well, that they would be sustained during the cold months of winter. Rituals like dancing the maypole have been kept alive through years of tradition, and today we have the opportunity to do so with our own maypole here at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House.

Please join us on Sunday April 26, 2026. 10am -11am. "Keep hope alive" with Will Hunter. n his 1988 convention speech, a defeated Jesse Jackson mesmerized the crowd as he talked about how conditions in this country had turned “grapes of hope [into] raisins of despair”,leading to people “turning on each other and self-destructing.” He brought the huge convention crowd to their feet with his conclusion: "Hold your head high; stick your chest out. You can make it. It gets dark sometimes, but the morning comes. Don’t you surrender! Suffering breeds character, character breeds faith. In the end faith will not disappoint. You must not surrender! You may or may not get there, but just know that you’re qualified! And you hold on, and hold out! Keep hope alive. Keep hope alive! Keep hope alive!" Whatever our challenges -- personal or political, small-scale or worldwide -- keeping hope alive is
essential to survival. How do we do it? Art, music, great ideas, self-care . . . are a few ways that come to mind. What are your ideas?
