SILENT GROVE CEMETERY REGULATIONS
Effective 20 October 2023
Only human remains may be interred in the Cemetery, and only one body (single casket) may be interred in a single Plot. Silent Grove accepts traditional burial (utilizing a casket), natural burial (no casket), and the burial of cremation remains.
Vaults are not required, but may be used at the option of the Purchaser. Cremation remains will be allowed to be buried in a single Plot with a maximum of the remains of 2 persons per Plot.
Plot dimensions are 4' W x 10' L.
Headstones, monuments and markers (cumulatively known as "Monuments") must be in accordance with the solemnity of the Cemetery and shall be purchased from a commercial monument company and constructed of monument-grade granite, or other monument-grade material, such as monument-grade sandstone or bronze. HOMEMADE MONUMENTS ARE PROHIBITED.
Only one Monument is allowed per Plot. One Monument may span two Plots.
All Monuments must be placed on a monument-grade footer that is at least six inches longer and six inches wider than the base of the headstone. The footer must be set on “dry-pour” (a mixture of portland cement and gravel) or other stable material to prevent settling or shifting of the Monument.
The Cemetery may at any time enter upon the lots or graves to keep the same neat, and clear off the grass, weeds, wilted flowers and debris. The Cemetery reserves the right to remove any artifacts from the grave, i.e. artificial flowers, stuffed animals, ribbons, bows, dead plantings, which are determined to be unsightly or faded and present a detriment to the natural beauty of the Cemetery. The Cemetery reserves the right to use their discretion to make this determination.
Funeral flowers, holders, containers, baskets and easels will be removed on or after the fifth (5th) day after a burial.
Glass containers, tin cans, plastic containers, flower pipes, or shepherd’s crooks are not permitted at any time as they present a hazard for mowing equipment and landscaping personnel.
No landscaping border of any kind shall be constructed around the perimeter of the Plot. This includes benches or other items that interfere with Cemetery maintenance.
No planting of live flowers, shrubs or trees will be permitted at any time.
Live cut flowers in permanent vases attached to the headstone are permitted at any time.
Artificial flowers appropriate for the season or occasion are permitted at any time.
All floral decorations or any other decorations will be removed and disposed of on February 1st, July 1st, and November 1st of each year. Floral arrangements or any other decorations may also be removed when they become discolored, wilted, seasonally inappropriate or unsightly in any manner.
