Luke’s Episcopal Church in Springbrook, WI, a quaint field stone structure, was built in 1917. For ten years prior to building the church structure, area residents held services in homes and whenever possible, in the local Congregational Church building. As time went on with money saved and with the help of many parishioners, wood was cut and stone quarried from local lands to build a church of th

eir own. On Easter Sunday in 1917, services were held for the first time in the little stone church that still stands today. Nearly a century later, weekly services are still being held in that charming church and with the continued help of members of the parish, improvements have made it possible to meet the needs of the many faithful people. Luke’s Episcopal Church is that it still maintains a lively and faithful congregation despite the fact that the village of Springbrook, WI no longer has the shops, other churches and amenities that had been there in the past. Luke’s provides a welcoming Christian community whose mission is to demonstrate the love of God to all people through worship, prayer, fellowship and service to others

Tomorrow is the First Sunday of Advent—the beginning of the Church year.
Advent means coming and we think of Christ’s coming in three ways: His first coming on the first Christmas Day, his future coming at the Last Day and his coming to us through the Blessed Sacrament.
Advent is also a time to contemplate the Four Last Things: Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell.

It’s that time! Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend as Daylight Savings Time comes to an end.

Feast of All Souls.

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

O God, the Maker and Redeemer of all believers: Grant to the faithful departed the unsearchable benefits of the passion of thy Son; that on the day of his appearing they may be manifested as thy children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

“O Almighty God, who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of thy Son Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow thy blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys which thou has prepared for those who unfeignedly love thee; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.”

Blessed Feast of Saint Francis

A Prayer attributed to St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.

Blessed Feast of St. Michael and All Angels.

Everlasting God, who has ordained and constituted in a wonderful order the ministries of angels and mortals: Mercifully grant that, as your holy angels always serve and worship you in heaven, so by your appointment they may help and defend us here on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
