This really won’t make much sense to most of the people on my list but I had such a precious weekend ministering to the beautiful ladies at Harlingen Nazarene Church this weekend. I’m not asked to speak in Nazarene churches anymore and this was so very special to me that they wanted me to come and minister. The Nazarene church is where I fell in love with Jesus and it’s the home of my heritage so it’s been very difficult for my heart to walk this road that has really cost us everything in many ways. I will never regret saying my yes to the Lord for the journey for my life. Thank you Harlingen women for your kindness and love you showed to me this weekend. I know I received so much more than I deposited. Love you girls!!!

It's so easy to keep your eyes focused on people who are offended at you or who don't think you do everything right. That isn't God's best for your heart and your mind. Do everything you can to live at peace with those around you. Ask forgiveness where you have caused harm. Don't keep your eyes on those who can't see past that to who the King says you are. Unfortunately you are probably just one in a long line of people they are offended at. Get your value from the One who created you, knows you best and loves you the most. Leave the end result up to Him and walk in His Presence toward others.

My mom was 42 when I was born. They lived their lives in an extreme level of fear of their church body — after all that’s the way things were done then. They also lived poor. Just the thought of being given a child like me at the age of 42 and 16 months later having another baby (my amazing “little” brother Jeff Russell) and adding in all the exterior pressures of my parents lives makes my innards turn over. Anyway, looking back, it was probably kind of rough to celebrate a birth like that in circumstances like that with a kid like that. Most of my days have been wasted on resenting that life. What I now understand is that all the time my friend, Holy Spirit, was squeezing out the negative situations and my negative responses. I didn’t have to waste all those days. They could have been lived in complete and total freedom and joy if i had just submitted to the squeezing and trusted the journey my Papa God had me on. I didn’t have to be tolerated and I didn’t have to simply tolerate life. Looking for anything and anyone to blame.
Today on my 52nd year I am so grateful and blessed to have been so celebrated on this day by precious friends and coworkers, my amazing family and my church loves. The journey to joy has been worth it and I am very proud of every moment of those 52 years.
I love and honor every one of you. Here’s my word for you today. Stop wasting time. Let the Holy Spirit squeeze the junk out He knows what is very best. If you are offended or angry or broken or hopeless. Stop pointing your finger and excusing your behavior. Get squeezed and GET HAPPY!!!!!!!
