LADIES - DON'T FORGET TO SOAK IN THE OIL
"Before a young woman's turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics."
Esther 2:12 NIV
I think its great that many women today, especially young women, want to beautify themselves with cosmetics and perfumes. Esther did that for her big day. But don't forget she also soaked in oil of myrrh for 6 months, most likely to make her skin very soft.
As most of you know, I believe God has called women to ministry. But I saw a trend years ago where many women ministers started acting very masculine, even with lots of make-up on, in order to compete in what they felt was very much a "man's world."
I don't believe that is necessary. I believe women can be in ministry - anointed, confident, authoritative and bold, and yet still be feminine.
I don't believe it is becoming of women to start acting like men just to compete. I believe your gift and anointing will always make room for you - even in at times what may be perceived to be a man's world.
So while the make-up, cosmetics and perfumes are wonderful - don't forget the "soaking in oil" part that also keeps the exterior soft. Of course, I'm speaking spiritually here.
There is something very powerful - some call it "soft power" - about an anointed confident woman of God, knowing her calling and identity in Christ, being bold and having authority, and yet walking in her femininity. Now that will capture the attention of "kings."
