The Haven Community Church

The Haven Community Church Sundays at 10:00 AM | A Simple Church on a Mission to Love God, Grow Together, and Change the World. We want to create an environment that is safe to do so.

Lead Pastor/Elder: Scott Hescht
Elder: Luke Yagelski

Services:
Sundays at 10 AM

The Haven is located at
315 Gentry Street, Suite B5, Spring, TX 77373

The Haven is based on the idea of simplicity in Christ. Jesus said "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for

your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:25-30). "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" (Psalm 34:8)

It isn't a church that is watered down in theology. The Haven is Biblical first and foremost and Jesus Christ is the center of that theology. We believe that Christ is found in a person, not in a program. We also believe that the church is found in the people and not in the building. Therefore, four walls do not define who we are, Jesus Christ does. "Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all" (Colossians 3:11). Simply put, The Haven is a safe place to love God, grow together, and change the world.

If Jesus is better, why doesn't life always feel better?

That's the honest question at the center of this week's message from Hebrews 1. Brandon steps in for Scott, who's out sick, and walks through why Hebrews keeps making the same argument over and over - Jesus is better than the prophets, better than the angels, better than anything that came before him. But better doesn't always mean easier.

Sometimes the job doesn't improve. Sometimes the prayer isn't answered the way we hoped. This message is for anyone who's ever wondered if their faith is somehow falling short because their circumstances haven't changed.

"Get a job at Chick-fil-A first."

That's real advice from this week's short - on waiting for a sign from God vs. just taking the next faithful step. Sometimes God works through common sense more than we give him credit for.

Dreams from God. The Nephilim. Bigfoot. What to do when you feel completely alone in your faith.

This week's Ask the Pastor Anything covers a lot of ground - six real questions from the congregation, answered honestly and without a script by Scott and Luke. No perfect answers, just an honest attempt to point back to scripture.

Twenty years ago, Scott gave his very first guest sermon at a small church - and the man who invited him has been a friend ever since.

In this episode, Scott sits down with Truce for an honest, unfiltered conversation about the road that got him here - years fighting a legal case, prison, the moment he says he stopped just knowing God and actually learned him, and what it took to keep getting back up every time life knocked him down.

This one is raw. It's also full of hope.

In April 2003, the world watched a 40-foot statue of Saddam Hussein get pulled to the ground in Baghdad.

Throughout history it's the same story - kings build monuments to their own power, and eventually every one of them falls. That's the exact scene King Nebuchadnezzar dreams about in Daniel 2 - except in his dream, a stone cut without human hands brings the whole statue crashing down and becomes a kingdom that never ends.

This week we walked through what that statue represents, wrestled honestly with what the "feet of iron and clay" might mean for us today, and landed on one simple but hard truth - God doesn't just want our confession. He wants our surrender.
