Verse: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Devotion: It is not a sin to be tempted - and we will be tempted.
One should not confuse temptations with trials. Most often, trials are allowed - or even sent - by God to strengthen the Christian. Temptations, however, are sent from the devil to cause the Christian to stumble.
Arriving in a variety of shapes and sizes, temptation is a reality that is not going to go away. But our minds are like a hotel. The manager cannot keep someone from entering the lobby, but he can certainly keep that person from getting a room. Likewise, when a temptation passes through our mind, we haven't sinned. We sin when we give that thought a room in our mind and let it dwell there.

Code Word: GUARD
Guard your heart and mind today as temptation comes knocking on your door. Don't give it a room.

Prayer: Lord, put a guard over my mind and keep watch over the door of my thoughts. In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? Habakkuk 1:2

Devotion: If there really is a God who is all good and all powerful, why doesn't He always answer our prayers for good and right things? Why does He allow evil and suffering?
The true test of our Christian character may well be how we respond when we don't see an immediate or, in our eyes, acceptable answer to our prayers.
Sometimes we pray and immediately see God's answer. Sometimes we have to wait for God's response. At other times, He answers in a way we didn't expect, so we don't recognize it. And then sometimes God denies our request. But God does always answer. Always.
We need to be sure we are always praying according to God's Word and His will.
And on occasion, I have asked him time and again for certain things He had no intention of giving me because He had something far better in mind.
You see, in the kingdom of God, we live by promises, not by explanations.

Code Word: CONFIDENCE
You can trust the Lord today. In fact, when you are not able to trace His hand in your circumstance, you can always trust His heart. You can have confidence that He is with you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You not only hear my prayers, You answer them. In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law. Galatians 4:4

Devotion: And that is how God proved His love toward us. He did not proclaim His love by shouting from the heavens or writing flaming letters across the sky. God demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins.
And Jesus was not some sort of remedial action, a last-minute splint for a broken world when everything else had failed. The preparation God had done was staggering. He had raised up the Hebrew nation through which He would send the Messiah. He had raised up a Greek nation that took the Greek language across the known world so the gospel could be spread without a language barrier. He raised up a Roman empire that built a road system of fifty thousand miles across the known world so people could more easily move from country to country and take the gospel with them.
Yes, Christ came in the "fullness of the time" (Galatians 4:4).

Code Word: TIME
Each time you look at the time today, let it remind you that God is always right on time, never early and never late.

Prayer: Lord, Your timing is always perfect. Help me to wait on You when necessary. In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10

Devotion: Perhaps there is no other subject more often relegated to the back of our minds than the fact that each of us will one day stand before the supreme Judge of all the earth. In His court, there are no mistrials, no appeals, no probations, no adjudicated sentences, and no hung juries. It is the one court where ultimate and perfect justice will prevail. The Lord's judgment means one of two options: "everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life" (Matthew 25:46).
The subject of judgment can be one of the most confusing ones in all Scripture. But we can be sure of this truth: "[The Lord] is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth" (Psalm 96:13).

Code Word: APPOINTMENT
We all have an appointment at the Judgement Seat of Christ. And this is an appointment where you will be on time...God's time!

Prayer: Lord, thank You that Christ has taken the judgment of my sin. In Jesus' name, amen.
