Verse: Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:38-39

Devotion: the number one quest of these lost generations is their search for a meaningful relationship. Many have never known one. They are the product of a culture of divorce, and they are crying out for a meaningful relationship.
What Christ has to offer is not about religion or ritual. It is about a relationship, a vibrant, personal relationship with Him. It is about unconditional, tough, and eternal love. The lost generations can find the very thing they are searching for in Christ and only in Him.
Furthermore, none of us will ever be properly related to others until we are properly related to ourselves. And that happens only when we discover Jesus' love and enter into a relationship with Him.
Furthermore, none of us will ever be properly related to others until we are properly related to ourselves. And that happens only when we discover Jesus' love and enter into a relationship with Him. Christ Himself is the answer for the very thing that compels our search for significance - a meaningful relationship in life.

Code Word: RELATIONSHIP
Think about it. You have the capacity to relate not only outwardly with others, but upwardly with God Himself. You can know Him in the intimacy of a Father and child...an awesome thought.

Prayer: Lord, help me realize I will never be properly related to others until, first, I am properly related to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7

Devotion: Our Western culture has seen a systematic decline in traditional values over the past many decades. Ours is described as a postmodern culture, tolerance is valued to the nth degree, and truth is a personal matter.
By and large, the American church has awakened to the reality that at least two generations have been lost to the church. Sociologists, psychologists, and analysts of social trends have identified several common characteristics of these "lost generations."
As we look at each of five characteristics of these lost generations - they are searching for a meaningful relationship; seeking immediate gratification; wanting something for nothing; desiring guilt-free living; searching for prosperity - consider where these younger generations can find answers that meet their needs and desires. Only the church holds the answers and can meet all five needs of these lost generations. Look again at Ephesians 1:7 and spend a few minutes praying for these lost generations.

Code Word: TRUTH
In our world of tolerance, truth is a missing word. But truth will always win...in the end. It is what will set you free. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32)

Prayer: Lord, You are not just the way and the life...You are the truth. In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: I know that my Redeemer lives. Job 19:25

Devotion: Notice that Job did not say, "I think..." or "I hope..." Job is rock-solid certain that he will live again.
And this confident proclamation comes from a man who has lost his wealth, his friends, most of his family, and his health. Yet his answer to his original question - "If a man dies, shall he live again?" (Job 14:14) - is an unwavering "Absolutely!"
Yes, there is a life after death. God wants us to know that truth; He wants us to live with certainty that life continues after our earthly existence. The apostle John put it like this: "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).
The Bible you often hold in your hands was written to you in order that you would have absolute assurance not only that there is life after your time on earth, but that you will spend it with Jesus.

Code Word: ASSURANCE
God doesn't want you to hope...but to know that you have eternal life. The reality is, you are not really ready to live until you are ready to die and have that assurance.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that I can know I have eternal life because Your Word says so! In Jesus' name, amen.

Verse: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

Devotion: We who desire to see and to enter the kingdom of God must be born again.
The apostle Paul described this as being "transformed" (Romans 12:2). We get our English word metamorphosis from this single compound Greek word. The picture is of a caterpillar spinning a cocoon around itself and later emerging as a new creation, a beautiful butterfly. No longer doomed to crawl on its belly, no longer as limited in its perspective and location, this butterfly can now soar freely.
Similarly, we experience a new birth when we recognize our sin, repent of that sin, and trust in Christ alone to forgive us. At the point of this new birth, we can be sure that God's Spirit is at work within us, making us hungry for God's Word, passionate for His truth, and more like Jesus every day.
We are indeed new creations!

Code Word: TRANSFORM
There is a world of difference in being "conformed" outwardly to a new set of moral standards and being "transformed" inwardly by the Spirit of God. The Bible says it is like going from "darkness to light" (Acts 26:18) or from "death into life" (John 5:24).

Prayer: Lord, it is all about You...not me. It is what You have done for me, not what I have done for You. In Jesus' name, amen.
