GOD IS AGAINST
Some people act like God is only against private sin.
They talk about lust, lying, drunkenness, and personal morality, and yes, the Bible speaks clearly about those things.
But Scripture also shows us that God is against the kind of evil people try to hide behind power, religion, influence, money, and public image.
God is against oppression.
That means God sees when the strong crush the weak.
He sees when people use authority to control, abuse, silence, manipulate, or intimidate others.
He sees the person who has no voice.
He sees the family that was taken advantage of.
He sees the poor person who was treated like they did not matter.
He sees the child, the widow, the outsider, the wounded, the forgotten, and the person everybody else walked past.
God is against false worship.
Not because He needs our performance.
Because He knows when worship becomes fake.
He knows when people sing with their mouths but their hearts are far from Him.
He knows when people lift hands in church but refuse to surrender at home.
He knows when people use His name but do not want His authority.
He knows when religion becomes a costume instead of a transformed life.
God is against corrupt leaders.
That should make people uncomfortable.
Because God does not ignore leaders who abuse trust.
He does not ignore pastors who exploit people.
He does not ignore politicians who lie for power.
He does not ignore parents who wound their children and refuse to repent.
He does not ignore anyone who uses position to protect themselves while damaging the people they were supposed to serve.
God is against dishonest scales.
In the Bible, dishonest scales were about cheating people in business.
But the principle is bigger than money.
God hates when people manipulate the measure.
When they are fair to themselves but harsh to others.
When they demand mercy for their own failure but judgment for everyone else.
When they twist the truth to make themselves look innocent.
When they use one standard in public and another standard in secret.
God is against empty religion.
The kind that knows the language but lacks obedience.
The kind that can quote Scripture but cannot forgive.
The kind that can post Bible verses but still lie.
The kind that can attend church but never repent.
The kind that cares more about looking holy than becoming holy.
God is against abusing the poor.
Not just ignoring them.
Abusing them.
Using their desperation.
Mocking their struggle.
Taking advantage of their need.
Treating them like their value is connected to what they can produce.
Scripture is very clear that God hears the cry of the poor, and people should be careful when they mistreat someone God is defending.
And God is against honoring Him with lips only.
That one should search all of us.
Because it is possible to say the right words and still have the wrong heart.
It is possible to call Him Lord and still ignore what He said.
It is possible to talk about faith and still live in rebellion.
It is possible to look spiritual online and be spiritually cold in private.
Isaiah 1 is not gentle about this.
God tells His people to wash themselves, make themselves clean, remove evil, learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, and plead the widow’s cause.
That is not empty religion.
That is repentance with fruit.
So yes, God is against sin.
But He is not only against the sins we like to point out in other people.
He is against oppression.
He is against hypocrisy.
He is against religious performance.
He is against corrupt power.
He is against injustice.
He is against the kind of faith that talks loudly but refuses to obey.
And the question is not just, “What evil is happening in the world?”
The harder question is, “Where have I allowed something God is against to live in me?”
Because God does not call us to perform righteousness.
He calls us to practice it.
