Father, today we come before You with grateful hearts and heavy hearts at the same time.
We thank You for the gift of freedom, for the sacrifices of those who endured unimaginable hardship, and for the faith that carried generations through seasons of oppression, injustice, and uncertainty. We honor their legacy today.
Yet, Lord, we also grieve.
We grieve the violence that has become too common.
We grieve the lives lost to senseless acts of hatred and harm.
We grieve the children who are afraid, the families left broken, and the communities carrying wounds that seem too deep to heal.
God, have mercy on us.
Where there is hatred, sow love.
Where there is division, sow understanding.
Where there is racism, prejudice, and injustice, awaken hearts and stir consciences.
Where there is violence, bring peace.
Where there is fear, bring courage.
Where there is despair, bring hope.
Protect our children.
Protect our neighborhoods.
Protect those who serve, those who teach, those who heal, and those who simply seek to live in peace.
Wrap Your loving arms around every family grieving today. Be near to the mother whose heart aches, the father carrying silent sorrow, the friend searching for answers, and the community struggling to make sense of tragedy. Remind them that they are not alone.
Lord, let Your presence be felt in our homes, our streets, our churches, and our nation. Teach us to see one another as You see us; created in Your image, worthy of dignity, respect, and love.
And as we celebrate Juneteenth, may we never stop pursuing the freedom that reflects Your heart: freedom from hatred, freedom from fear, freedom from injustice, and freedom to love one another as brothers and sisters.
Keep us.
Guide us.
Protect us.
And grant us Your peace.
