Clifton Chapel Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ was first organized in the 1900s. The location was at the Taylor School in Wilson County, nearby the Sandy Fork Baptist Church. The Church was reassembled and rebuilt at 217 South Popular St. Spring Hope NC, 27882 where it is located today. In Early 2000 the members started to renovate and extend the entire front entrance. Unfortunately arson ca

used the church building to burn completely down. On September 16, 2000 the church members rallied together and had worship service at the Spaulding Auditorium. The new sanctuary building was underway, and the work continued toward completion under the leadership of Trustee McCray Deans, Deacon Dan Richardson and Pastor Dr. Robert L Atkinson. David Burnsworth and his construction class from the Nash Community College assisted. There were also help given from the members, neighboring churches, and the community. In August 2003, the first service was held in the brand new chapel. Pastor Dr. Atkinson delivered the morning message and guest minister Barbara Manning from Richmond, VA rendered the afternoon service. This was indeed a Grand Ole Home Coming Service! Clifton Chapel has had nine wonderful Pastors to serve the congregation. The founder Elder Turner Pulley, Elder Phillip Howell, Elder W.G. Best, Elder F.W. Williams, Elder W.C. Simmons, Pastor Robert L Atkinson, Elder James Goldsby and Elder Thomas Raynor. The current Pastor Cynthia Crumel and Deacon Frank Crumel were elected in November 2020! They are committed to serving!!
