Berglund Missions

Berglund Missions Gary Berglund and his daughter Erika traveled to the town of Goodhope, Guyana On July 11, 2014

We have re-named this page to reflect future mission trips instead of only one of the past trips. Gary has been to numerous mission works, in some cases making our home in stateside mission works for years, not weeks. Erika has worked with EEM in Ukraine before the Guyana mission that was the impetus for this page, and would love to spend more time doing mission work. Please keep the Berglund family in your prayers as we seek new opportunities to spread the borders of God's kingdom.

We have gone from “Let’s all respect every religion and not just Christianity” to “It’s never ok to mock a minority religion but we can say and do all kinds of disrespectful things to Christians.” This blasphemy at the Olympics is not to be tolerated! I blame the people who cannot abide a civil discussion about why Christianity is the only system of faith that makes sense and is historically, scientifically, and morally sensible and accurate. All faiths are NOT equal, they never have been. You didn’t want it discussed rationally, now you are turning on the only Savior you will ever have. Repent and turn before it is too late for your immortal soul. NO, I won’t discuss it here! I will discuss it with you individually and in private. Call me day or night to learn why you need to fear Jehovah and keep His commandments.

Just contacted our favorite coffee shop, but the owner said they are in Jamaica. We had talked for years about helping with this important mission trip. This may be one we are not too old to participate in. The tiny boats to travel to Good Hope, Guyana are a little out of the question in our current condition. Meanwhile, we pray for the success of the mission teams there and in Jamaica, and wherever we hear of the gospel of Christ being taught.

Can Christians use musical instruments in worship? Let's see what the Bible says about God's design of worship in the New Testament as well as breakdown shoc...

How would you all feel about sending us to Scotland? Maybe in 2018.....

We are pleased to announce that we are donating the proceeds for this plant sale to a mother/daughter team going to Guyana on the medical mission this week! Of course, we are "borrowing" the funds in anticipation of the sales Saturday, as they are leaving Friday. Please consider getting strong healthy plants and supporting mission efforts!

To our friends who supported Gary and Erika two years ago, THANK YOU! Souls were added to the kingdom of God from this effort. Many have asked if either of them are going this year. The answer is no, but many other good workers are! If you would like to support them, please do! Let us know, and we will forward that info to you. We hope that next year will be a good year financially to plan another mission trip.

Gary had a productive morning, with a Bible study and followup scheduled. No news about the other team members of course, since they are split up and going into the rural parts with no communication. He probably got together with them for lunch, but I haven't heard yet. Erika should be teaching the VBS class about now, with at least 100 kids in one class. We don't realize how good we have it here in the States, and how easy it is to get to classes and worship. Pray for all the team members and the people of Goodhope!

Sorry for being so slow on this, but the team got up the river just fine this evening (or was it afternoon?) Erika's bags were lost, but they hope to send someone down the river for them as soon as they turn up. One is packed with needed medical supplies. She also got a few mosquito bites already, in spite of all our best efforts to prevent that. She is on a daily anti-malaria pill-- the expensive kind. Her doctor was wise to recommend it, because she's so sweet the bugs just have to have a taste!

Still on the long, long flight to Guyana (and hopefully sleeping a little). Then there's the long ride on the rickety boat, piled high with the luggage and medical supplies. Your support is greatly appreciated, and now the prayers for the success of the mission is also welcomed and appreciated. Thank you again for all the help in getting not one -- but two -- Berglunds to Guyana.

Good news! The hotel, water, and transportation are now covered! Now for the bad news; Yellow Fever shots are $160 each, and must be done at least ten days prior to leaving. Gary gets his today. Anyone want to buy a great 45" flatscreen TV or a nice, brand-new mountain bike?

Almost done with the shots! Another one for hepatitis today.
