I read this earlier today and, while I don't know who the author is, I found it to be a great reminder to Christians.

We’ve become experts at blending in.

But we were called to stand out.

There is always a temptation for the church to become more like the culture around it.

To follow what is popular.

To soften what is uncomfortable.

To adopt the world’s values in the name of being relevant.

But please remember:

Culture changes.

God’s character doesn’t.

When the church simply mirrors the world, we offer people a reflection of what they already have.

But when we reflect Christ—His love, holiness, humility, grace, and truth—we show them something different.

Jesus called His followers “the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14

Light doesn’t become darkness in order to reach it.

It shines.

The world doesn’t need another version of itself.

It needs to see Christ in us.

So the question isn’t, “How can we become more like the culture?”

It’s, “How can we become more like Christ?”

Be distinct.

Be faithful.

Be His.
