Colossians 1:9-17
LIVING ABOVE THE SNAKE LINE
Intro: There is, in nature, an invisible, yet very real and definite, line above which you will never find a snake. Early settlers in America referred to this line as “the snake line”. Often, when they were purchasing a property, they would ask the seller whether or not the property was above “the snake line”.
They knew the land on the mountain was more rocky, harder to clear, and not as fertile as the land in the valley. But, they also knew the land in valley was infested with rattlesnakes, adders, and copperheads. Many settlers chose to raise their families on the higher ground, above “the snake line”, rather than risk snake bites for themselves or their families.
Just as the Lord has drawn an invisible line in the mountains which the snakes can’t pass, there is a spiritual “snake line” as well.
• There is a level of living that is higher than that of the world.
• There is a level of life available to God’s children that allows them to live lives that are holy, pleasing to the Lord, and free from many of the problems that cause “the way of the transgressor” to be “hard.” (Proverbs 13:15)
This first chapter in Colossians speaks about that spiritual “snake line.” Here, we are told how we get above “the snake line”, and how we can stay there. I want to share three facts with you about Living Above The Snake Line.
FIRST, (vs. 12-14, please read) We Have Been Elevated Above The Snake Line;
The Word of God is teaching us that every lost person in the world lives below “the snake line”. They prove it every day they live by the way they live, and by the things they do. Like the children of Israel in the wilderness, (Numbers 21), the lost have been bitten by the serpent of sin and all are in great danger. You are placed above the snake line when you get saved!
SECOND, (vs. 9-10, please read) We Have Been Enlightened About The Snake Line;
Those who have been saved by grace and placed above “the snake line” understand the difference between the new life they have been given in Jesus and the old life they lived in sin.
• The power and privileges of the new life in Jesus stand in striking contrast to the old life of sin lived below “the snake line”.
• The character and quality of our new life in Jesus clearly exposes the emptiness and futility of the life lived in the lowlands of sin.
THIRD, (vs. 11, 15-17 please read) We Have Been Empowered Against The Snake LIne.
These verses teach us that we are not on our own in our fight against sin. Verse 11 tells us that we are “strengthened” by “His power”. His “power” works to give us “patience” and “longsuffering with joyfulness”.
These verses help us understand the the truth that we do not have to live like we use to live anymore. We have been place above “the snake line”, and we have the Lord’s help to stay there.

The Lord Jesus Christ enables us to live for Him by extending to us His awesome, omnipotent ability. This makes it possible for us to live above “the snake line”, not in our own “power”, but in His. His “power”, working in us, gives us the “authority” to live lives that are “pleasing” to God, “fruitful in every good work”, and ever “increasing in the knowledge of God.”

This is so true. HE is our living GOD.

Jesus

Read at least the first two lines....Never thought of it!

Jesus died over 2000 years ago.
Nobody has ever referred to HIM as the late Jesus,
Not even the heathens.
Nowhere in history.
Nowhere has HE ever been referred to in the past tense
HE 'is' the Living God!

When Jesus died on the cross HE was thinking of you!
"May God Smile on You Today."

1Peter 5:7,
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Mizpah Ministries 5th Annual Golf Tournament

On October the 6th we will be holding Mizpah Ministries 5th annual Golf Tournament at Brooksville Golf and Country Club. The event will be held to help raise support for Mizpah Ministries. For the last 15 years Mizpah Ministries has been a beacon to the lost and forgotten segment of our society who have taken a wrong turn, made a bad decision or simply born into the wrong family. The facts are that there are presently over 2 million Americans incarcerated in this country and that number continues to grow at an alarming rate. Drugs, Alcohol, Gambling and Po*******hy have taken a toll on this country and we are in danger of losing an entire generation to the bo***ge of sin. The recidivism rate is 70 to 75% in the first year and jumps to 80 to 85% after 5 years. It is a revolving door!
Mizpah Ministries, ministers to the incarcerated as well as their families through Bible Studies, Counseling and the --Free Indeed-- Program which is held both in and out of jail and prison. --Free Indeed--is a 12 step Bible Study/ Discipleship class in the guise of an addiction program. We have had great success with this program in restoring broken lives as well as broken marriages and families.” For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
The fact of the matter is these people will be released when their time is up and statistics bare out the results through the recidivism rates. Doing things, the same way you’ve always done them, will get you the same results you’ve always gotten! Without follow through they are doomed to repeat the same pattern over and over again. At the expense of the innocent and the taxpayer!
Mizpah Ministries cannot reach everyone but, we have managed to lead over 7500 men, women and children to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour! May the Lord receive all the glory! Maybe, just maybe, one of the ones that we do reach will in turn reach another. Help us to reach many, by coming out and supporting Mizpah Ministries in this golf tournament. Not only will you be lending a hand in support but you will enjoy a great day of fellowship and fun.
Come join in the fun, food and fellowship while helping out a very worthy cause! Register you church today! Individuals, pairs, foursomes and sponsors are all welcomed and greatly appreciated! There will also be prizes for longest drive, closes to the hole, foursome with the lowest score, and door prizes. We also will have mulligans and strings for sale!

‘REACHING OUT TO THE DEAD’ Ezekiel 37:1-14 June, 2018

Ezekiel, a 25 year- old priest from the family of Zadok, was taken along with the king and 10,000 Jews to Babylon in 598 BC. Five years later, in 593 BC, Ezekiel, now thirty was called into the ministry. Ezekiel’s name means “Strengthened by God,” and there can be little doubt that the visions that he was given during his 20 plus years of faithful ministry were used to challenge and strengthen his fellow exiles. The ministry of Ezekiel was marked by a series of visions. One of those visions is the focus of our time together today. The “Vision of the Valley of the Dry Bones,” is a very familiar passage of Scripture. I have heard it used to preach about the need for revival in the church. That is a valid use of this passage. Yet, we need to remember that God is not speaking to the church in those verses. He is speaking to the nation of Israel, v. 11. He sees them as a dead nation. He promises this dead nation that a day will come when He will raise them from the dead and use them again for His glory.
When Ezekiel received this vision, he found himself surrounded by the bones of the dead. Everywhere he looked he saw dead people. He was commanded to preach to them. And, he was commanded to pray over them. When he obeyed the Lord’s command, Ezekiel saw those dead bodies brought back to life. He saw the Lord’s ultimate sacrifice on display in that graveyard, and that is the thought I want to magnify today. Like Ezekiel, we are surrounded by the dead. Everywhere we look there is evidence of the spiritual death that dominates our world. And, like Ezekiel, we have been sent out to tell the dead that they can live. From where Ezekiel stood that day, his task must have seemed impossible. Yet, he obeyed God and the Lord blessed his efforts. From where we stand today, the task of reaching those who are dead in sin also seems like and impossible task. However, if we will do as the Lord has commanded us, we will also see Him bless our efforts.
For the past 15 years, Mizpah Ministries has strived to do as the Lord has commanded us to do. As a result of our faithfulness, the Lord has blessed us with the honor and privilege of winning 8000 souls to and for Christ! May He receive all the praise and glory! Through the Grace of God, that is over 500 souls a year! As the ministry grows the yearly harvest grows with it. We have reached the point where we are struggling financially to keep up with the growth. We need help! Please, can you tell another church about us! Do you know of a church that would allow me to present the ministry? Perhaps, one that is having a mission conference? We have a proven track record and a 15- year history of faithfulness. I know I sound a little bold but there is no better investment than winning souls to Christ!
The -Free Indeed- substance abuse program has awarded over 600 certificates of completion and the book, “When Pigs Fly” has lead over 500 to our Lord and Saviour! This ministry is in the business of winning souls for Christ! Please, can you help us? I can be reached at 813-714-2720. Thank you!

Someone came on the property and stole our trailer. I called the Hernando Sheriff Department and reported the theft. The officer came out (really nice by the way) and made a report. My prayer is, that they would find the person that took it along with the trailer and that I could visit with them in the jail and lead them to the Lord! My continued prayer would be that the Lord would compel someone to give us another one.
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! I PRAISE HIS NAME IN ALL THINGS!
