Brownback's UCC

Brownback's UCC Brownback's Church is a rich and diverse community of faith where you'll receive a warm and friendly welcome. You'll be glad you did!

Brownback’s United Church of Christ is a warm and welcoming community of faith. We are diverse in age and background, but we share a common commitment to follow Christ together as he calls us in the 21st century. Our mission is to reach out in love to our neighbors, our community, and our world by sharing the Good News through worship, fellowship, and service. We invite you to join us for worship

this Sunday as we refocus our lives on Christ and Christ's way and reconnect with one another. So come, be challenged and refreshed, and find a place where YOU can become more and more one of Christ's own.

“Yet it is our authentic presence that helps. Our mission is clear. We are called to step away from the human mindset of self preservation and step into the divine mindset of self giving love. We are to pick up our crosses and enter into God's mission. Let us go out into our neighborhoods this week, not looking for places of honor, but looking for places to serve. Let us connect deeply, love genuinely, and bear our crosses with joy, knowing that the one who lost his life for us rose again and calls us to serve.”

“Often, we need not say anything. We just need to be present. And when the time comes, our story might be just the healing another person needs. Yet it is our authentic presence that helps. Our mission is clear. We are called to step away from the human mindset of self preservation and step into the divine mindset of self giving love. We are to pick up our crosses and enter into God's mission. Let us go out into our neighborhoods this week, not looking for places of honor, but looking for places to serve. Got Extra Grocery Bags? Help Us Support PACS!

We’re collecting paper and plastic grocery bags at Brownback’s Church to support Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS) and the important work they do for families in our community.

If you have a stash of clean grocery bags at home, bring them to the church and drop them in our collection in the lobby! Every bag helps.

We’re getting close to having enough bags to gather together as a church family and double-bag them before delivering them to PACS, saving their volunteers a step as they prepare groceries for guests. 💙

It’s a small thing that can make a real difference. So the next time you empty a grocery bag, don’t throw it away. Bring it to Brownback’s!

We’ve loved seeing your prayer requests on our Community Prayer Wall, and we want to keep praying with you. 💙

Prayer reminds us that we are never alone. God hears our prayers, and He invites us to bring our joys, struggles, needs, and hopes to Him.

Have a prayer request? Share it on our Prayer Wall or request personal prayer from Pastor Bill.

And take a moment to visit the wall from time to time to pray over the requests of others. Let’s continue growing in faith and lifting one another up in prayer. 🙏

“Our personal prayer time is less about delivering a list of requests and more about god working in our lives, god communicating with us and our response to God. It is in our private prayer time that God examines our hearts, hears our individual requests, and guides us into who God is transforming us. And our personal prayer time is also an opportunity to tune out the many voices of this world so we can hear the one voice.”

This is when the church sinks. When we take our eyes off of Jesus, when we take our eyes off of what Jesus calls us to do, and we allow the doubts and trials and tribulations of our lives to sway us. Yet, this is not a permanent situation for Jesus immediately reaches out to Peter. It is yet another lesson of god's abundant grace. The moment Peter cries out, the hand of God is there to pull him up. The moment Peter starts to sink, Jesus saves. The moment we take our eyes off Jesus, He does not abandon us, rather he lives the promise to be with us until the end of days.

“Authentic faith requires action, not just quiet belief. To experience a supernatural move of God, you must be willing to leave the safety and the predictability of your boat. Now Peter, while impulsive at times, is able to walk upon the water because he is obedient to Christ's voice over the preservation of his own comfort zone, or at least until a wave crashes near him. Peter shifts his focus from Jesus to the wind and waves around him. This is when the church sinks. When we take our eyes off of Jesus, when we take our eyes off of what Jesus calls us to do, and we allow the doubts and trials and tribulations of our lives to sway us.”

“The abundant love of God is always with us even when we are at our lowest. Jesus' compassion spills out into our lives, enabling us to do the same. Today, at this table, we are offered the bread of life and the cup of salvation. This is the foretaste of the heavenly banquet. It is not an opulent party of power, but the meal of the crucified savior given so you remember his sacrifice, Given so that you find life in him. Given so you are strengthened to minister to others even in the middle of the fray.”
