Our last morning had us clean up the space offered to us by our host church, then we hit the road for home. We hit some bad traffic and unfortunately had to take the scenic route home. Ending up exploring most Pennsylvania and making it home at exactly 10pm. Later than expected, tired, but safe and sound. Another thank you to our parents, leaders, teens and God. This trip was an insurmountable blessing. And we pray to be able to do it all again ! 🙏

Day Four Theme: “ Footprints in the Sand, Following Christ’s Great Example.”
Day Four Verse: John 13:1-17
We were up early again and blessed with bacon egg cheese and bagel breakfast sandwiches cooked again by ours truly one of our fearless leaders from Chili Pres, Adam Scoville. Then we headed over to Maryland’s own Believe in Tomorrow’s Beach House. The beautiful beach house is situated directly on the beach and offers free vacation respite for families with children suffering from terminal and chronic illness. Families are offered the beach home full of amenities (including a snack bar with virgin beach cocktails for families and children) right on the beach. Giving families grieving ongoing illness, and dealing with insurmountable medical bills an opportunity at a week’s vacation, hope and respite. Our youth got down and dirty scrubbing their deck and picnic area, watering and weeding their garden and landscaping and praying with their volunteers. Then we headed back to the the wonderful Quay hotel that graciously offered our teens a safe place to cool off and swim with the high humidity and jelly fish risk! Dinner was burgers and hotdogs followed by more boardwalk shopping, final night fireworks and some prayer. This trip has brought our troop together, inspired both leaders and youth, served the community and gave us some very much needed rest. We look forward to our next adventure coming up in September at Camp Whitman which will be our kickoff to the Sunday School Season. We praise God, we welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts and we are ready to follow Christ into the next School year! Thank you parents for trusting us and thank you God for leading and protecting us.

Day Three Theme: Spiritual Gifts, Heavenly Treasures vs Earthly Treasures
Day Three Verse: Matthew 6:19-21
Day three had us up and out early by 10am but still had time for a delicious scrambled egg and pancake breakfast; blueberry, chocolate chip, gluten free with donuts cinnamon rolls and all the fixings! Headed across the way to our host church’s (St Peter Lutheran)community center to help prep and serve their weekly community lunch! We pulled chicken, dressed and prepped burgers and soup and mingled with the weekly guests, which included many of the communities elderly, unhoused and underserved international students staying on the island with their visas. Ellie led the community blessing ♥️ we loved getting to work with the church members who put on this weekly meal service. They also have fresh farm veggies, to go groceries, and a clothing closet for the community members to use as weekly resources. Then we were lucky enough to have the hotel across the way offer their pool for us to cool off for the afternoon as the jellyfish have been abundant this week. Had a lovely dinner at the local hole in the wall Shotty’s Place and blessed our server, Chase. Then we spent the night walking and shopping on the boardwalk. 🤑🛍️

Day Two Theme: Feed the Hungry, Invite the Stranger
Day Two Verse: Matthew 25:35-40
We spent the afternoon after morning devotions with a pancake breakfast (chocolate chip and blueberry!) at Snow Hill nursing and rehab facility, where we chit chatted with residents, played several rounds of BINGO and had a good old fashioned sing along; the Beatles, a little John Denver, some Neil Diamond and some good old fashioned Amazing Grace as the send off. The spirit of God filled the room and even the nursing staff got in on the fun! After Taco Tuesday dinner we headed back to the beach for worship. The teens came up with our worship elements; a call, an offering, a moment for penance and a mission charge. Thankful to Adam Scoville the music Minister from Chili Presbyterian for bringing his guitar and his special flavor of fun! What a day!

Day One Theme of the Day: Be Fishers of Men
Verse of the day: Matt 4:19-22
A VERY hot afternoon at the beach following continental breakfast and devotions. Then we got our naps in and some very loud games of UNO! Oh p.s we caught a jelly fish!
Last night our joint ecumenical youth group got the chance to prep a hot dinner to be served to the unhoused community in Ocean City, Maryland. At Saint Paul’s by the Sea church their community offers daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and lodging for roughly 45 unhoused. Last night we provided pulled pork and pulled chicken sliders with 3 bbq options, broccoli and a baked potato bar complete with bacon bits, sour cream and cheese. We prayed with them, they prayed with us, and we learned more about their community kitchen and composting projects! Keep following along for more snapshots of all the fun! *Union Presbyterian Church as well as Chili first Presbyterian are also with us! But for some reason couldn’t find their tags for the Facebook 😉
