Christ the King Lutheran Church

Christ the King Lutheran Church Committed to ministering to sinners Thank you so much for visiting! Christ the King Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

"For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."--1 Corinthians 1:18
A Traditional, Liturgical, Biblical congregation in the Iowa Great Lakes Region. We are Christ-centered, and everything about us flows from that fact. The Divine Service is initiated by God who gives us his gifts of forgiveness, life and salvation through His W

ord and Sacraments. We passively receive those gifts and respond in reverent thanks and praise. We teach both young and old the truth of the scriptures and the love of Christ. As we go about our lives between Sundays, we live in the assurance of God's grace as his redeemed children. From this assurance spring forth works of love in our community and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sunday Schedule Change, Sunday, August 3rd
With the St. Luke's Partnership beginning in August, here is the new Sunday Schedule starting this Sunday:

7:00am: Pastor available for Private Confession & Absolution in his office
8:00am-8:45am: Bible Study
9:00am: Divine Service (Our worship time does not change)
10:30am: Service of the Word - St. Luke's Chapel
11:15am: Service of the Word - Riverview Chapel (3rd floor)

All services at St. Luke's and Riverview are open to the public. You are welcome to attend them.St. Luke's Nursing home is also always looking for volunteers to help residents get to the Chapel from their rooms.

I had the pleasure today of meeting the former chaplain, Rev. Perry DeGroot, show me around the chapels. He, and the rest of St. Luke's, are very much looking forward to this partnership starting and the services beginning this Sunday.

Tree Damage
Christ the King had tree damage to one tree in the front of the church and significant damage to one tree behind the church.

I have spoken with LERT Coordinator Julie Mann concerning our tree damage and damage to another member's home. She said Bruce Gamble will be the LERT volunteer to come look at the damage and then coordinator any LERT help with Julie. After Bruce looks at the damage at Christ the King, anything with LERT will be coordinated between him and Doug Abel. We pray they are able to get a team of volunteers with chain saws to take care of the damage and debris.

For our members: If you have had damage to trees and need assistance, please contact Rev. McGinley so that he can get your contact information to Bruce. Many of you may have had help come in, which is great. For others than need help, do not hesitate to ask.

We all know LERT is a volunteer organization - the help we receive will be dependent on the teams we can get to come here. So nothing is guaranteed. However, we don't have any chance of getting help to you if I hear nothing from you.
