📖 VERSE OF THE DAY — JOSHUA 1:8–9

God told Joshua to keep His Word before him, meditate on it day and night, and live according to what He had spoken.

There is a connection between knowing God’s Word and living with courage.

When we fill our minds with Scripture, we are reminded of who God is, what He has promised, and that we never walk alone.

Read the Word.
Meditate on the Word.
Obey the Word.
Walk in courage.

“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Tonight at Spencer Church of the Nazarene, we’re continuing with the message:

NEVER FORGET — What the Stones Still Say
Joshua 4

Israel stood at the Jordan River facing another impossible crossing. Years earlier, the generation that came out of Egypt had watched God open the Red Sea, yet many of them later failed to trust Him. Now their children were standing at the Jordan, and God gave them a memorial of twelve stones so future generations would ask, “What mean ye by these stones?”

The lesson is still powerful today: we must remember what God has done, trust Him in the present, and tell the next generation.

Tonight we’ll also connect Joshua 4 to the New Testament, where Jesus gave His followers another act of remembrance:

“This do in remembrance of me.” — Luke 22:19 KJV

As part of the service, we will participate together in Communion, the Lord’s Supper, remembering the body and blood of Jesus Christ, His sacrifice on the cross, and the salvation He has provided for us.

The stones said, Remember what God has done.
Communion says, Remember what Christ has done.

Join us tonight as we remember God’s faithfulness, the cross, the resurrection, and the responsibility we have to pass the story on.

Somebody told us. Now it is our turn.

NEVER FORGET

Remember the Lives. Remember the Cross. Remember the Empty Tomb.

Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, those words still matter: Never Forget.

We remember the lives that were lost, the courage that was shown, the families forever changed, and the sacrifices made in the middle of tragedy. But remembrance should do more than make us look backward—it should change the way we live today.

Joshua 4 tells us that God instructed His people to build a memorial so future generations would ask, “What mean ye by these stones?” The answer was simple: tell them the story. Tell them what God has done. Pass it on.

This Sunday we will focus on three truths:

Never forget that life is precious.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed, so love deeply, forgive quickly, and live wisely.

Never forget the cross.
Jesus Christ gave Himself for sinners. Grace cost something.

Never forget the empty tomb.
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.” —Matthew 28:6 KJV

Because Jesus lives, grief does not have the final word. Fear does not have the final word. Death does not have the final word.

Jesus does.

Join us Sunday as we remember, reflect, and celebrate the hope we have in the risen Christ.

🙌 Never forget the empty tomb.
Never forget—Jesus Christ is alive.

Today we pause as a church family to remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives that were lost, the families who still carry that loss, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the courage and sacrifice shown in the middle of tragedy.

But as Christians, remembrance also calls us to something deeper. Life is precious. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Love should not be postponed. Forgiveness should not be delayed. Faith should not be taken for granted.

September 11 reminds us how quickly life can change. The cross reminds us how deeply God loves us. The empty tomb reminds us that death does not have the final word.

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.” —Matthew 28:6 KJV

May we never forget the lives.
May we never forget the courage.
May we never forget the sacrifice.
May we never forget the cross.
May we never forget the empty tomb.

And above all, may we never forget that Jesus Christ is alive.

🙏 Today we remember.
🇺🇸 Today we honor.
✝️ Today we hope.

✝️ VERSE OF THE DAY — GALATIANS 3:26–27

“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.”
— Galatians 3:26–27 (NLT)

What a powerful picture: when we put our faith in Jesus, we receive a new identity. We are no longer defined by our past, our failures, our labels, or what other people have said about us. We are children of God.

Paul says we have “put on Christ” like putting on new clothes. That means when we step into this day, we should wear His grace, His love, His compassion, His holiness, and His character for the world to see.

Before you walk out the door today, ask yourself:

What am I wearing spiritually today?

May people see less of us and more of Jesus.

🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You that through faith in Jesus Christ we can be called Your children. Help us to put on Christ today so that His love, grace, and character are seen in everything we say and do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die."

The Christian life was never about our own strength — it's Christ living through us. Every breath we take in this body is meant to be lived by faith in the One who loved us enough to die for us. That's not meaningless grace. That's everything.
