Monday Morning Motivational Minute
I heard this years ago, and it has stuck with me:
“If you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
There’s a lot of truth in that.
Most of us like what is familiar. We know the routine. We know what to expect. We know where the edges are, and staying inside them feels safe. But safe can also become stagnant.
Something happens when you step outside your comfort zone and stretch yourself a little. You discover abilities you didn’t know you had. You learn things you would have never learned standing still. You meet people you would have never met, try things you would have never tried, and sometimes find opportunities that were waiting just beyond what felt comfortable.
Growth rarely happens while everything stays the same.
That doesn’t mean every new idea is a good one or that change should happen just for the sake of change. But sometimes the thing holding us back isn’t a lack of opportunity. It’s our unwillingness to leave what is comfortable long enough to find out what might be possible.
If you want a different result, somewhere along the way you have to be willing to do something different.
Stretch yourself. Try something new. Take the chance. Make the call. Start the project. Have the conversation. Walk through the door.
You may be surprised by what is waiting on the other side of comfortable. - Pastor Mark
