This week, we honor the young man who traded a life of princely privilege for absolute dedication to Christ: Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (Feast Day: June 21st). 👑
Born to a noble Italian family, Aloysius was destined for power and wealth, but from a very young age, he felt a powerful call to religious life. He shocked his family by formally renouncing his title and inheritance to enter the Jesuit order. His life was a vibrant example of purity, humility, and rigorous self-discipline.
St. Aloysius is particularly honored for his heroic charity. While studying in Rome, a devastating plague broke out. He fearlessly dedicated himself to caring for the dying, often carrying the sick on his back to the hospital. He contracted the disease and died at the age of 23. His life teaches us that true nobility lies not in birthright, but in selfless service.
Let us pray through his intercession for the grace of purity in our intentions and actions, and for the courage to put the needs of others before our own ambition. 🙏🏼
