Passing the Peace of Christ

*Call to Worship
Let our voices unite
In unending praise of God.
The one true god
Who calls us to be His people.

*Hymn #473 “Lead Me Lord ”
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness; make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only, that make us me dwell in safety.

*Psalter #744 Psalm 9: 11-20
Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion!

Tell among the peoples of God's deeds!

The Lord who avenges blood is mindful of them,

And does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

Be gracious to me, O Lord! See what I suffer from those who hate me;

You are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death, that I may recount all your praises, and, in the gates of the daughter of Zion, rejoice in your deliverance.

The nations have sunk in the pit which they made;

Their own foot has been caught in the net which they hid.

The Lord is made known! The Lord has executed judgment!

The wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.

The wicked shall depart from Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever.

Arise, O Lord! Let not mortals prevail;

let the Nations be judged before you!

Put them in fear, O Lord;

let the Nations know that they are mortal!

New Testament Reading 2 Corinthians 6:1-13
Gospel Reading Mark 4:35-41

Hymn #117 “O God, Our Help In Ages Past”
O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home!

Under the shadow of thy throne, still may we dwell secure; sufficient is thy arm alone, and our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame, from everlasting, Thou Art God comma Two endless years the same.

A thousand ages, in thy sight, are like an evening gone; short as the watch that ends the night, before the rising sun.

Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all who breathe away; they fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day.

O God, our help and ages past, our hope for years to come be thou our guide while life shall last, and our eternal home.

*Hymn # 131 “We Gather Together”
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; he chastens and hastens his will to make known. The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name he forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine; so from the beginning the fight we were winning; though, Lord, was at our side, all glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, and pray that thou still our defender will be. Let thy congregation escape tribulation; thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

*Call to Worship
God of all creation
We hear your call.
Let your words draw us near to you
So that we may grow in wisdom.

*Hymn # 473 “Lead Me, Lord”
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness; make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only, that makest me dwell in safety.

*Psalter #795 Psalm 72:1-17
Give the king your justice, O God,

And your righteousness to the royal son!

May he judge your people with righteousness,

And your poor with justice!

Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness!

May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor!

May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations!

May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!

In his days may righteousness flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth!

May his foes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust! May the kings of Tarshish and the aisles render him tribute, May the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts!

May all the kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!

For he delivers the needy when they call, and the poor and those who have no helper.

He has pity on the weak and the needy,

And saves the lives of the needy.

From oppression and violence he redeems their life; the precious is their blood in his sight.

Long may he live, may gold of Sheba be given to him! May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoke for him all the day!

May there be abundance of grain in the land; May it wave on the tops of the mountains; May its fruit be like Lebanon;

And may they blossom fourth in the cities like the grass of the field!

May his name endure for ever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May the people bless themselves by him, all nations call him blessed!

O Lord, you have searched me and know me!

You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it altogether.

You pursue me behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.

For it was you who formed my inward parts,

You knit me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for you are fearful and wonderful.

Wonderful are your works!

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes beheld my unformed substance;

In your book were written the days that were formed for me, everyday, before they came into being.

How profound to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

If I would count them, they are more than the sand. When I wake, I am still with you.

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, upon many waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful, the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars,

the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

The Lord makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.

The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness,

the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare;

He is Lord, he is Lord! He is risen from the dead and he is Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Blessed are those who do not walk in the counsel of the wicked;

Or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of scoffers;

But they're delight is in the law of the Lord,

And on God's law they meditate day and night.

They are like trees planted by streams of water that yield their fruit in season, and their leaves do not wither.

In all that they do, they prosper.

The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment; nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives; but greater still the calm assurance, this child can face uncertain days because he lives. (Refrain)

And then one day I'll cross the river; I'll fight life's final war with pain; and then as death gives way to victory, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know he reigns. (Refrain)

Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne. Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but it's own. Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as the matchless King through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed over the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save. His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high, who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise. His reign show know no end, and round his pierced feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.

Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou has died for me; thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity.

*Psalter #741 Psalm 4
Answer me when I call, O God of my right!

You have given me room when I was in distress. Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.

How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies?

But know that the Lord has set apart the righteous as God's own;

The Lord hears when I call.

Be angry, but do not sin;

Commune with your own hearts in your beds, and be silent.

Offer right sacrifices,

And put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say, "O that we might see some good!

Lift up the light of your countenance upon us, O Lord!"

You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I'm found; was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; 'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures; he will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, a life of joy and peace.

When we've been there 10,000 years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise then when we first begun.

Oh hope of every contrite heart, oh joy of all the meek, to those who fall, how kind thou art! How good to those who seek!

But what to those who find? Ah, this nor tongue nor pan can show; the love of jesus, what it is, none but his loved ones know.

Jesus, our only joy be thou, as thou our prize will be jesus, be thou our glory now, and through eternity.
