We often think the third commandment is just about not using God's name as a curse word. But it goes so much deeper than that.

Taking God's name in vain means using His weighty, glorious name carelessly—making false promises "in Jesus' name," claiming "God told me" when He didn't, pretending to follow Him while living otherwise, or treating His name as just another throwaway phrase. God's name represents His entire identity, His reputation, His saving power. When we lift it up flippantly, we profane what is holy.

Here's the good news: Jesus never took God's name in vain. He perfectly honored the Father, then went to the cross to pay for every time we've broken this commandment. He died so we could be forgiven. Now we get to lift His name high—not casually, but with reverence, gratitude, and joy.

The question isn't whether you'll bow to Jesus. It's when. Will you bend your knee today in worship and receive forgiveness, or wait until judgment day? Make His name bigger in your life, and you'll find true freedom.

The offering challenge did not disappoint this year! We raised a lot of money and Byron got the pie!

A huge shout-out to the members of FBC Spearman! We had a great week of VBS!
I want to say thank you to everyone who helped, to those who showed up early and decorated, to the kitchen crew, the nursery workers, all the teachers, all the students, and the hall walkers. You guys are the best! Vacation Bible school is tiring, but it’s so worth it to hear those kids singing to Jesus and to have so many kids in our building hearing the good news of the gospel and that Jesus is the light of the world. We also raised $2258.38 for New Life Advance Children’s Home in Guatemala!

I love you, and it’s a joy and an honor to be your pastor!

Love Byron

We all want to worship God, but are we worshiping Him the right way? This Sunday, we explored the Second Commandment and discovered it's not just about avoiding statues—it's about making sure nothing comes between us and the one true God.

Here's the challenge: We can worship the RIGHT God in the WRONG way. When we say we feel closer to God through music, a building, nature, or even a favorite pastor, we're placing something between us and Jesus. But Jesus alone is enough. He is the perfect image of the invisible God, and through Him, we have direct access to the Father.

God's jealousy isn't petty—it's protective love. Like a devoted parent guarding their children, He wants our exclusive devotion because He knows counterfeits will never satisfy. The cross shows us just how far His jealous love goes—Christ died to bring us close to Him, and nothing else is needed.

Worship Him in spirit and truth. Jesus is enough.
