For more information follow Jacket Catholic page! Our objective is to build a Newman Center that is more accessible and visible to the students and faculty at the Black Hills State University campus, and to support and strengthen the faith of the Catholic students and young adults during a critical transitional time of their lives. It is our hope that the students will take the spiritual
gifts they have received through their ministries and share those gifts with others wherever their careers and vocations lead them. We are committed to serving the spiritual needs of all students and faculty who choose to be part of the Newman Center family. A new Newman Center will be able to offer a variety of new programming and be an effective place to grow in Christian Discipleship. Students will use the center for worship, spiritual direction, weekly and daily Mass, Bible study, and fellowship. Students active in the Newman Center also provide outreach and service to the Spearfish community. Last year Newman students logged more than 900 hours of community service. Projects include; delivering Meals on Wheels, snow removal, assisting with the Good Shepherd Clinic, which provides free healthcare for those in need. Along with these programs, the facility will be open to the greater community, with access for weddings, receptions, graduation ceremonies, retreats, picnics, other university and community events. Our goal is to have the Newman Center built and ready for use in 2017. As you consider your generous gift to make this vision a reality, we encourage you to visit with our Campaign Team about any questions you may have.
