Strings Music Camp (Ages 8–17)

📅 July 16–18
📍 Fernwood Baptist Church
💲 Cost: $50 for the first child, $25 for each additional child

No experience? No problem!

Fernwood Baptist Church and Mountain School of Music have partnered together to offer a fun, hands-on music camp for students ages 8–17. Whether your child is a complete beginner or an experienced musician, they will learn from expert traditional musicians, make new friends, and experience the joy of playing music together.

Campers will have the opportunity to explore a variety of traditional mountain instruments, including banjo, upright bass, and autoharp, while developing musical skills through instruction, games, and group jams. Don't have an instrument? We've got you covered! Instruments will be available throughout the week, and students who already have an instrument are encouraged to bring it.

All your child needs to bring is a snack and a willingness to learn—we'll take care of the rest!

Come join us for three days of music, fun, friendship, and Appalachian tradition. 🎻🎶🌄

Register today and discover the joy of making music together!

Happy Father's Day from Fernwood! ❤️

Yesterday, several of our Fernwood families—including fathers, children, and youth—spent part of Father's Day serving together at the soup kitchen. From making sandwiches and preparing fruit to pouring coffee and helping wherever needed, it was a beautiful reminder that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the example of serving others with love and compassion.

We are grateful for every volunteer who gave their time today. Watching multiple generations work side by side to care for our neighbors was a wonderful picture of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.

"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant." (Matthew 20:26)

If you missed this opportunity, we'd love to have you join us next time! Our next soup kitchen volunteer day will be Saturday, August 16th. Mark your calendars and come serve with us!

Wednesday was a special day at Palmetto Patriots Home in Gaffney as residents, staff, and guests gathered for the dedication of a beautiful painting by Marijane Wilson.

The painting captures a remarkable moment from Chaplain Rev. Jim Rentz's ministry during the Vietnam War, a baptism of a young soldier in the jungles of Vietnam. As Jim shared the story behind the artwork, we were reminded of the power of faith, the significance of baptism, and the ways God's grace accompanies us even in the darkest and most difficult moments.

The morning was filled reflections on God's faithfulness through the years. It was a blessing to be part of such a meaningful celebration.
