Revival this week, so far, has been two great services. Please come out tonight for our last service with Bro. Owenby. There will be special singing by 2-R-More.

II Corinthians 2: 9-10
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

January 4, 2013: The Colors of Promise

Daily Reading--Genesis 9:1-11:32

It is one of the worst feelings ever. You tell a friend something you don't want repeated but they let you down. It was one brief comment spoken to impress someone with what they knew about you. People now know your secret and know your story. Such dissappointments make it hard to trust again. God is completely different. God always keeps his promises.

Think about it:
To remind us of his trustworthiness, God gave us a sign. He made a solemn promise to people who might sometimes find it hard to trust, and he sealed that promise with a sign. God promised he would never flood the world again. He sealed this promise with a rainbow for all to see.
Close your eyes. Picture a rainbow. God is with you forever. He won't let you down. Never forget that.

Pray about it:
Heavenly father, when others let me down help me remember that you are always there for me. Thank you for giving me the rainbow as a reminder of your faithfulness. Amen.

January 3, 2012: Take a Hike!

Daily Reading--Genesis 6:1-8:22

Everyone has bad mornings every now and then. He car is broken down again and you're stuck walking ten blocks to school. Life isn't fair sometimes. You leave fifteen minutes earlier than usual and five minutes into the dreaded walk you discover that the air seems extra clear this morning. You feel a little bit healthier being outside. He conversation wig your younger brother is almost acceptable. In fact, he wants your advise about the best way to break the news to mom about his little science class incident. By the time you reach your classroom, you are shocked at what a good morning it is. The dreaded walk has turned into a fine way to start the day. It took a few extra minutes but it made all the difference in the usual strained relationship with your brother.

Think about it:
-Spending a few moments each day with a family member or friend is important in keeping that relationship fresh. Noah knew how to keep his friendship with God from growing stale. Noah walked with God. He approached life with God as something to be treasured and enjoyed. He didn't just pay God lip service; he took the time to be with God and know him better. Instead of just talking at God, he walked with him. You can do the same. As you walk, spend time thinking and talking with God about your day.

Pray about it:
Heavenly father, forgive me for talking at you instead of talking with you. Help me to remember to take a walk with you once in a while. Amen.

January 2, 2013: Looks Just Like Him!

Daily Reading-Genesis 4:1-5:32

*When someone has a baby, people can't help saying things like who they resemble. We sometimes don't see it no matter how hard we try. People come up to us and say we have our mother's eyes or our father's nose. And this makes sense. You would expect a baby to look something like his/her natural parents.

Think about it:
-People look like the God who created them.

Do you look like your God? When you star in the mirror each morning and your reflection stares back, does the thought ever cross your mind that somehow you share God's likeness?

-Look at Genesis 5:1=God made us in his likeness by giving each person a soul. He created us to be spiritual people. This shows how much he values each person.

Pray about it:
Heavenly Father, help me to see myself as a reflection of you, my creator. When I look at others and they look at me, remind me that we were created like you. Amen.

Devotional--
January 1, 2013: Light Switch

Daily Reading- Genesis 1:1-3:24

*When we are away from home and we first wake up, we sometimes don't know where we are until light enters the room. "When you're in the dark, it's tought to figure out anything. But with even a glimmer of light, things begin to make sense."

Think about it:
-Life without God is life in the dark.

Where is the dark in your life? Are you overwhelmed with the thought of a test or a coach or boss you can't seem to get along with?

-Let God enter your dark world and light it up with HIS presence.

Pray about it:
Heavenly Father, sometimes my life seems like I'm just stumbling int he dark, groping for the light switch. Let your light shine through my dark world today and fill the emptiness in my life. Don't let me ever forget that you are always with me. Amen.
