As we near the weekend, we make our way closer to the beginning of Holy Week (Palm Sunday). While there is no specific mandate to observe, as Christians we are encouraged, not to walk in obligation, but in faith, and here we have an opportunity to partake in walking together as a church to meditate on the richness of this week as we head toward the pinnacle of God's loving work accomplished on the cross.

offers a bounty of free resources as well as a beautiful collaborative effort for a Holy Week devotional. Comment below and we will share the link. 😊

Matthew 13 Recap ➡️ SWIPE

Those who have ears to hear, let him hear. With Spring in full swing, we see creation proclaiming the truth that God loves to make all things new. In Matthew 13, there's no shortage of talks of seeds being shown and wheat that will one day be threshed.

There's a prompting here for introspection; to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Dear Christian, growth may take time, but it is assured, so long as you are rooted in Christ. We pray that you are.
Dear friend, if you are not, we pray that you would be and we will rejoice with the heavens with news of your salvation.

"I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION" (EX. 33:19/ROM.9:15)

"The wonder is not in that He doesn't save everyone, but that He saves anyone. Praise God for His overcoming our unbelief." -Pastor Bryan

A little recap of our journey through Matthew 12.

Matthew 12:38-39 ESV
[38] Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” [39] But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Still today, we can have too much a focus on what we can receive, asking the Lord for another sign, rather than focus on Jesus' message of repentance and faith. We want blessing and prosperity, but aren't interested in crucifying our sin. God help us.

Prayer: "Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your loving-kindness; according to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my inquity and cleanse me from my sin... create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." [Cont. Ps 51]

⭐️ ELDER LEE DITTEMORE⭐️

Join us as we welcome our newest Elder, Lee Dittemore, to the fold. He first came to Doxa to be our Assistant Pastor in 2021 and served in that role until the end of 2024. While his wife, Stacy, has also been serving faithfully in our children's ministry since coming to Doxa. When Doxa searched for a Senior Pastor, Lee volunteered to help fill the pulpit while we searched. We were all incredibly blessed to have him during that season. We are now incredibly blessed again to have Lee come and serve as an elder at Doxa.

As we continue in Matthew, I am reminded of the revelation of Christ's heart towards us: gentle and lowly. Here in Matthew, He calls us to come directly to Him, our kind, tender, and personal Savior.

SWIPE ➡️ to see what Charles Spurgeon said about this passage in an 1881 sermon of his.

Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
[28] Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

"Prayer sometimes changes things, but it always changes [us]. It is not to move the hand of God, but to move [us] closer to Him." -Pastor Bryan

And better than that, God invites us to come to Him, even making the path for us to get there.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week. As we head into the weekend, let us continue to reflect on the Word brought to us this past Sunday by Pastor Bryan. We, as Christians, should not waste our trials nor suffering, but seize them for His great glory and not allow our limited vision to cause us to stumble.

Isaiah 55:10-11 ESV
[10] “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, [11] so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

As the snow falls from the heaven today, let us continue to reflect on the message shared to us from Pastor Bryan last Sunday. God calls all Christians to go and make disciples, and if God calls us to do this, He will also empower us to do this.

It is such a blessing to have members in our body with gifts they are willing to use for His kingdom. Thank you, brother Lee, for bringing the sermon on Sunday.

What a necessary reminder that we do not just pray for laborers for the harvest, but we, ourselves, are those very laborers.

Pastor Bryan preached through Matthew 9:18-38. We saw in God's words the miracles done by Jesus by just the brush of His garment, the touch of His hand, the stroke of His fingers, but what a miracle was accomplished, not by the touch of His hands, but the piercing of it.

Let us refocus, not on the temporal, not just on the foretaste, but on the substance and the fullness of His harvest.
