Matthew 18 Recap ➡️

While we were yet far from the fold of God, Christ came to die, joyfully for the purpose set forth before the foundation of the world that each sheep may be saved. And for the Believer, Matthew 18 was intensely introspective. We understand that difficulties are guaranteed and ultimately serve God's good and eternal purpose. A true Christian should have a willingness to give up self and sacrifice, so Christian, was is it you need to lay aside for the sake of holiness? If hands and feet and eyes are expendable, what is it you are clinging to? Could it be pride and unforgiveness? Whatever it is, let it go and cling to Jesus.

Matthew 17 Recap ➡️

• Even in our desire to worship the Lord, we must be careful to do so in a way that He alone deserves and He alone prescribes.
• We ask for more miracles, and forget to ask for more Jesus. Christ offers us the full satisfaction of our salvation.
• We should do for the not-yet saved eternal good by taking up our cross daily and not carelessly exercising our Christian freedoms.

The fullness of God's Word has really come alive as we continue to walk through the book of Matthew.

Matthew 16 Recap ➡️
We hear from Pastor Bryan:
"We, as God's people, must be self-deniers. Christians must not be self-righteous, but Christ-righteous, having His righteousness imputed to us. And then we work out what He has worked in us, by the power of the Holy Spirit."

And Elder Blake left us with these two questions:
1) who do you say that Jesus is?
2) what does your life say about who you believe Jesus is?
The cross was not a last-ditch effort for rescuing God's people, it was Plan A before the foundation of the world. Jesus went to the cross, died, taking the wrath of God, paying the debt for all sinners, rising after 3 days, making a way to restore us to a holy God. Following Jesus will call you to die to self daily. It may even cost your whole life.

Matthew 15 Recap ➡️
We see dilement is not from what enters the body, but from what comes out of it. If out of the mouth, the heart speaks, what is our heart confessing right now?

The cycle of Call & Response is initiated by God, in His grace and mercy. Grounded in that grace and mercy and sustained by that grace and mercy. Glory to His name!

We have been quiet for a while, so get ready to see some Matthew recaps! Starting with Chapter 14.
• We see foreshadowing of the Cross.
• We see the sweet sufficiency of even our deepest needs with just the leftovers of a little boy's lunch, not just bread only, but the sufficiency from His Word.
• We see Peter's aching desire to be with Christ and the example set for us, how even in his unbelief he cries out to the Lord. Trusting more leads to doubting less.

As we near the weekend, we make our way closer to the beginning of Holy Week (Palm Sunday). While there is no specific mandate to observe, as Christians we are encouraged, not to walk in obligation, but in faith, and here we have an opportunity to partake in walking together as a church to meditate on the richness of this week as we head toward the pinnacle of God's loving work accomplished on the cross.

offers a bounty of free resources as well as a beautiful collaborative effort for a Holy Week devotional. Comment below and we will share the link. 😊

Matthew 13 Recap ➡️ SWIPE

Those who have ears to hear, let him hear. With Spring in full swing, we see creation proclaiming the truth that God loves to make all things new. In Matthew 13, there's no shortage of talks of seeds being shown and wheat that will one day be threshed.

There's a prompting here for introspection; to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Dear Christian, growth may take time, but it is assured, so long as you are rooted in Christ. We pray that you are.
Dear friend, if you are not, we pray that you would be and we will rejoice with the heavens with news of your salvation.

"I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION" (EX. 33:19/ROM.9:15)

"The wonder is not in that He doesn't save everyone, but that He saves anyone. Praise God for His overcoming our unbelief." -Pastor Bryan
