“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…” Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Jesus’s model of prayer, the first thing we learn is that we have a Father in heaven. The second thing is that we should hallow his name: keep it holy. Mostly we think that means not using his name as a swear word, but it also means not including God’s name with anything that demeans, devalues or dishonors him. We can do this with our lips, but we can also do this with our lives by claiming to be Christian but living sinfully. If you profess Christ, you have taken His name. Don’t take it in vain.

Comfort is a gift from God through Jesus Christ. Then Jesus, when He left this earth, sent the Comforter to us, the Holy Spirit. All our comforts come from Him: all assurances, all sighs of relief, all calming breaths, all moments of peace in the eye of the storm. As we receive comfort from Him, we can give that comfort to others. Let us be the comfort in someone’s struggle today.

Jesus loves you, even if at times you feel unlovable. Even at times when others find you are difficult to love, Jesus still loves you. May you experience His love so fully that you can love others the same way. May He give you grace to love those that are difficult to love.

Jesus readily healed dozens of people wherever He went, yet He waited to go to Mary and Martha when they sent word that Lazarus was ill. He didn’t even show up til Lazarus had been dead for four days. By that time, the crowd was asking, “Could not He who opened the eyes of the blind have kept this man from dying?”

The simple answer to their question is Yes, He could have. The sisters knew that. They had faith that Jesus could heal their brother, that’s why they sent word to Him. But Jesus had something else in mind.

We expect the Lord to work in certain ways, but what if He doesn’t? What if He makes us wait? What if He wants to do something else entirely? If you’ve called on Jesus and he hasn’t shown up yet, don’t loose faith. He can certainly do what you’re asking Him to do, but maybe He’s saying, “Wait till you see what I’m going to do instead!”

Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes! ~ 1 Samuel 12:16
