Promised Land Equine Ministries

Promised Land Equine Ministries Ministering to the Children of Hardship Situations - Jami Sacks Simone, Director Why Equine Ministry and Why Horses? We utilize horses for many reasons.

As human beings, our connection to the horse is ancient and intuitive. Horses are mentioned in the earliest recorded written word, illustrating how the human/equine bond transcends cultural and economic barriers. Horses have an uncanny ability to mirror our emotional states. Through interactive, relationship sessions with the horse, participants can gain insight, communication skills, and empowerm

ent, as well as countless other benefits. While working with horses might be intimidating at first, most people grow to enjoy their regular interaction with these magnificent creations of God. You’re allowed to be afraid around a horse as long as you admit that you’re afraid. A horse will walk right up to a terrified kid and put their head in their chest. Equine Therapy is not about behavior modification they get enough of that in school. It’s more about self-confidence and communication skills. There is a confidence that comes from succeeding in a new experience and doing something they wouldn’t ordinarily do. Those struggling with dependencies in their life often appreciate forming such a bond based on honesty and without judgment.Besides the comforting effect that close contact with animals brings, and the therapeutic effect of the time spent; most people find equine therapy a welcome change from conventional methods. A horse couldn’t care less if someone has been in jail or has a learning disability, they only judge you by who you are at the moment. Currently we are working with many families who cannot afford conventional therapy or expensive equine programs. We offer scholarships, discounted packages and for many of our families this type of opportunity wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for this ministry. 2010 was our first full year in equine ministry and in our camps alone we had over 20 children pray to receive Christ. God is really blessing this ministry with so many opportunities to share the love of his son. One of my parents said last week “This is the only place that my daughter can come and find peace in her life”. Another mom told me her 5 year old autistic son is opening up in ways that no other therapy has worked for him. Please keep us in your prayers, the challenges are many-but lives are being changed. If you have an interest in serving in this ministry or would like more information please give us a call.

WHAT'S UP🐴

This summer in our lessons we will be concentrating on ground work and dressage. On July 19th we will be going as a team to watch a dressage schooling show @ FENCE. On Tuesday July 29th (weather permitting) and Tuesday August 12th we will be taking the horses to FENCE for their Summer Tuesday Night Schooling to practice show jumping ($20 per horse) and then on August 2nd, 16th or 23rd (stay tuned to the date) we will be offering a mini clinic with Erin Parker, including: The fundamentals of dressage, using your corners, riding circles, a proper halt, introduction to the show ring including what to wear, and how to prep your horse, (cost is $50 per participant-we will have space for 3-4 additional riders if interested). We will also look for some cross country venues that we can practice and get comfortable with the different type of jumps. AND THEN...the first weekend in September (6th and 7th) we will be competing at FENCE in the 2 day dressage/show jumping and cross country schooling show. This will be the first time the team will compete in this type of show and we are very excited to learn all the new things this summer so we can compete in the fall. It will be fun but also challenging so please keep us in your prayers.🙏
Pictures are to show what we will be doing for those who do not know.

We had 2 shows in March due to a cancelled show in Feb and now we are on to April. Praying for an awesome show year to these beautiful young women who I have grown to love as my own through the years. I have seen them pursue their passion, work hard, achieve goals, persevere challenges and mature into fine young horse women that I am very proud of. Please continue to pray for this team, their families and their wonderful hard working steeds. Go Team🥰

It is with great sadness I make this post. My friend Brian Powell passed away unexpectantly and we are sad, shocked, and in disbelief. We just had a clinic with him last month and my students got to meet an amazing man, rider and trainer. We had such plans Brian, but our plans were not God's plan. We will miss you Brian! Hug your family and friends today because you never know when they will no longer be here. Please be in prayer for his sister Kate and all of his family and friends (here and afar). RIP Brian, your legacy remains with all of those you have touched, including us at PLEM.

2 Corinthians 1:8-10 NLT
8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. 11 And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.
