Yesterday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday and were reminded that the Holy Spirit was not given for emotion or appearance — but Power with Purpose.
Â
“Ye shall receive power… and ye shall be witnesses…” — Acts 1:8
The disciples were transformed: fear became boldness, silence became proclamation, confusion became empowered service. They didn’t stay in the upper room — they stepped into the world with courage, compassion, and purpose. So, we must ask: Power for what?
Pentecost power is given so we can witness boldly, live transformed lives, and build God’s kingdom. Even when we feel tired, distracted, or fearful, the same Spirit who empowered the disciples empowers us today.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
This is not a season for silence when our world is in dire need of hope and truth. Our world needs Spirit-filled believers who pray with faith, love with compassion, serve with humility, and speak truth with courage. Pentecost Sunday may be over, but our assignment begins now.
We are called to live our faith openly — to pray intentionally, forgive freely, study God’s Word consistently, and serve wherever there is need. The fire of Pentecost was never meant to stay in the upper room; it was meant to spread through every willing believer.
God has already given the power. Now, He calls us to walk in it. The evidence of Pentecost is not excitement alone — it is the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith...” — Galatians 5:22
Don’t just celebrate what happened in Acts — ask God to let it happen in you. Pray for fresh fire, renewed boldness, and kingdom purpose. Then we will answer “Power for what?” through our lives, our witness, and our obedience.
