Our Beliefs
About the Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible is the written Word of God, to be accepted in its entirety. The Bible is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to mankind. About the Holy Trinity
We believe that there is one God, and that God is three distinct persons:
God the Father
The Creator who is love. He is and always has been present, all powerful and ever loving. Rev 1:8 “’I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’”
Jesus the Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He came to earth and died a brutal death for the forgiveness of our sins. He was the holy, perfect, sinless, unblemished sacrifice for the sins of mankind for all time. He rose from the dead and reigns eternal, in Heaven, at the right hand of God. All who accept Jesus as their Savior will be with Him, in Heaven, for eternity. Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the ever-present spirit of God with us to comfort, strengthen and direct us in the path that God has planned for us. John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father and He will give you another counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you will know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.”
About Mankind
We believe that every person is a sinner by nature and that we sin of our own free will. We live under the condemnation of sin, and we need salvation; salvation is a work of grace received when the unbeliever repents of their sins, believes on the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and accepts Him as their personal savior; We believe that salvation is a present and permanent position. All mankind is created in the image of God and are called to be followers of Him. We are all given the choice to follow no matter what the circumstances of our life. We all have the free will to follow or to reject Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
About Profession of Faith
We believe that baptism is the immersion in water of a professed believer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, and his own death to sin, the burial of his old life, and his resurrection to a new life in Jesus Christ. Though this is not a requirement in order to be a believer in God, we participate in this symbolic practice because Jesus found it important and was baptized himself, even though He was sinless. Baptism symbolizes the death of an old, sin filled life without God and the rebirth of a new life with God and His Forgiveness. Matthew 3:13-15 “Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John, but John tried to deter Him saying, ‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?’ Jesus replied, ‘Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.’ then John consented.”
About the Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s supper is the celebration and remembrance of the last supper Jesus had with His disciples during the Passover. Once one professes faith and becomes a believer in Christ dying for our sins, that new believer becomes a disciple. The Lord’s supper is symbolic but is a reminder of our calling to go out and grow the Kingdom of God making new disciples for Christ. Matthew 26:26-28 “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying, ‘Take and eat: This is my body.’ Then He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying. ‘Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins”
