Redemptoristine Nuns of New York

Redemptoristine Nuns of New York We welcome guests to join us for Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours.

As of August 2024 we have, with very grateful hearts, we have been welcomed to take up residence at the Convent of the Holy Rosary in Sparkill, New York,
home of the Dominican Sisters. Redemptoristine Nuns are called to intimacy with God in contemplative community life; vowed in chastity, poverty and obedience; striving to become “Living Memories” of Christ the Redeemer; to be personally transfor

med into the Divine Life. While in step with our times, we preserve an enclosed life devoted to the apostolic work of prayer and abandonment to God in service to our Church, our sisters and brothers throughout the world, and all of precious creation. We heartily welcome women seeking God who are called to contemplative monastic religious life.

Not far from us is the beautiful church of St Augustine, where we attended the funeral of Redemptorist Fr rank Skelly's sister-in-law Georgette. It was a beautiful heartfelt celebration of her life.
Fathers Richard Bennett and Kevin O'Neil were present also.

We celebrate the Incarnation of the Christ this August 25 with Little Christmas. We renewed our vows answering '... the call to be a living memory of Christ the Redeemer.'
The fresh evergreen branch and pine cone were collected from having trees taken down yesterday. How old were these trees? What memories do they hold? We thank for being a sign of God's love for us by their beauty, shade and protection. God created them, and us, to be signs of God's love for the world.

"Listen to Him."
On this Feast of the Transfiguration we hear these words of God spoken to us. Let us transform ourselves into a living image of Jesus.
On this day, in 1731, the Redemptoristine Nuns first donned their red, white and blue habit.
The Red symbolizes the burning love of Christ's Passion and God’s abundant mercy.
The Blue Mantle represents Mother Mary, through whom Jesus clothed himself in human flesh and born, uniting heaven and earth.
And White is for Pure Love: The Redeemer's love for all humanity: we are to clothe ourselves in this Pure Love that Jesus, the God/Man, might accomplish His work of salvation in us and through us.

We thank our sisters from Dublin who came for Sr Paul's funeral on Thursday.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of St Alphonsus Liguori, Founder of the Redemptorist Congregation1732, and was supportive and influential in establishing the Redemptoristine Order 1731.
"God is crazy in love with you!" "Believe in God and you will enjoy everlasting life." Words of Alphonsus
Prayers to all our Redemptorists and Redemptoristines around the world, especially to Sr Helen who makes her Solemn Vows today in Dublin.

On this Little Christmas in July, we thank God for the Incarnation of Jesus. We are called to follow the path of the Redeemer, as our Sister Paula did, in our own time and place that we may continue Christ's work of salvation in us and through us.
