HURRICANE IDA RELIEF | You can visit the Alabama West Florida Conference’s web page to make donations here: https://bit.ly/sfumcida.

Disaster Clean Up Buckets | Our church is involved with our Baypines District to help those impacted by Hurricane Ida. We are looking to assemble 50 cleaning buckets. The buckets will be provided, we simply need to fill them with needed supplies. You can help in one or two ways:

1. Be responsible to take a bucket and fill it with the supplies (individual families or classes/groups together). A list of supplies can be found below by clicking the "supply list" button and will also be in the bucket you take to fill. Approximate cost of the materials is $70 dollars.

2. Provide funds for the supplies needed for the cleaning buckets. (Simply make your check payable to SFUMC and mark it for: Cleaning Buckets.)

Buckets will be available at the church office on Friday, September 3rd. We will also have buckets available for you to take this coming Sunday, September 5th after the 10:00 a.m. Blended Worship Service by the Sanctuary. We need a fairly quick turnaround so we are hoping you can fill the bucket within a week and return it to the West Campus Youth Area by Monday, September 13th.

Thanks for your participation as we seek to help those in need. But even if you are not able to assist in this effort, continue to pray for the ongoing efforts and assistance to those deeply impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Covid Update From Pastor Bill Price

06/30/2021

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Welcome Rev. Dr. Kitsy Dixon! This past Sunday our Staff Parish Relations Chairperson, Lee Walters, announced the appointment of Rev. Dr. Kitsy Dixon as our additional Associate Pastor. Pastor Dixon is a native of Mississippi. She is a graduate of Ole Miss where she received a Journalism Degree. She moved to New York City to pursue studies in Theater and Dance. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in American Studies and a Doctorate Degree in Medical Humanities. Sensing God’s call in her life to pursue pastoral ministry, she went on to complete her M.Div. Degree. Through prayer and discernment, she decided to return to the South. She has had a variety of ministry experiences from working with the homeless to those experiencing crisis and trauma through victimization and those imprisoned. She has also worked in another UMC as a Youth Minister. More recently, she was pastoring churches in the Demopolis District before her appointment to SFUMC.

Pastor Dixon will be working more particularly as our Director of Family Ministries giving oversight to all age level ministries involving Preschool, Children and Youth. The goal is to develop a holistic discipleship approach that will engage families with nursery age children through becoming adults. She will also be involved in preaching and pastoral care. Her first day in the church office will be July 8th and her first Sunday will be July 11th. I hope you will plan to be present as we welcome Pastor Dixon to our church family. Further, I hope you will join me in praying that Pastor Dixon will have a smooth transition in her move to Spanish Fort. We will continue to pray for the favor and blessing of God especially upon her first steps of ministry at SFUMC!

As more people are being vaccinated and state mandates for masks are being relaxed, our COVID Task Force has been evaluating and making decisions regarding our own policies for protecting our congregation and the spread of COVID-19. As we would love to relax our policies, it is imperative that we do not let our guard down prematurely.

Our Bishop has issued a statement urging churches to continue mask requirements for a while longer until a more significant portion of the population can be vaccinated. Therefore, we will continue mask requirements and distancing during worship services, small groups and classes, and in our public office areas. Our local schools are continuing mask requirements indoors, and all our children and youth leaders have not yet been vaccinated, so we will continue mask usage in children and youth gatherings.

We are looking to ease some restrictions regarding food being served in small groups, however, we are not restarting our Sunday morning coffee fellowship or Wednesday evening meals at this time. We will continue to attempt to distance appropriately in worship services and we will continue our diligent cleaning practices between services.

We appreciate your prayers and patience as we continue to keep everyone safe!
