On the first day of Navratri, Maa Shailputri, the first form of Navdurga, is worshipped. Being the daughter of Himalaya, the King of Mountains, she is known as ‘Shailputri,’ and is also called Uma, Sati, and Hemavati. Maa Shailputri rides a bull, has a crescent moon on her forehead, and white is her favorite color.
On this day, devotees wear white clothes and offer white flowers, kheer, and rice to the Goddess. It is believed that worshipping Maa Shailputri with devotion brings peace, prosperity, and happiness into life.
