Report from Elder Michael Laswell who is serving a full-time mission in Japan. This great experience he had on the flight over! "So at the airport in LA we found some Nihonjin from Tokyo we helped them find the plane (Apparently we were taking the same plane) we talked to them some about the church and we were able to give one of the Book of Mormons we bought (Japanese) to them and then we got on the plane we werent sure what would come out of it but we wanted to do our best after the super long plane ride(BTW plane food sucks its not worth it) we saw them again once we got to Tokyo they met us right in the way to Customs and gave us their contact info and said they wanted to have missionaries come to their house they had read some of the Book of Mormon of the plane and they wanted to learn more!! It wasd awesome we were able to give their info to our mission President so that he could make sure the missionaries got to them! Also for those of you who want to know ive been assigned to the Togane area we have a lot of investigetors and a large english class to teach so we have been super busy this week! Ive been able to take this time to learn a lot but i still need to do a lot more and learn a lot more!"

Southfield Ward Mission Plan

Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.

Each member of the ward will pray every day to be able to help bring someone closer to Christ.

Each member of the ward will speak with someone every week about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tracy Bell's son Antonio and our long-time friend Damien Gray are both being baptized tomorrow (Saturday) at 6:30p at the Southfield Ward Building. What an exciting time! We're happy they have worked so hard to prepare themselves for this commitment to serve the Savior and follow Him.

A great missionary experience from our own Sister Laswell serving in Japan!

This week I just wanted to share a fun story. On Thursday this week we felt like we should go finding by a Sushi shop a member had told us about on Tuesday. Muliaga Shimai and I both realized we hadn't been to that part of town before. Sadly we did not partake of the lovey sushi shop, we simply decided to go knocking on doors around it to see if anyone was interested in hearing our message.

It turned out to be a rough batch of housing. We ended up housing two apartment complexes and 6 houses and no one even came to the door! We were about ready to give up, but decided to try one last apartment complex on that street. A few people came to their doorbells (they have speakers on the inside to talk to whoever rang), but as soon as they heard we were missionaries they just hung up! Normally in Japan they at least say "Kekko desu." Which means not interested. The last door we stopped at, the same thing happened again. We got right through saying "We are missionaries for the church of...." Before the "Click" came. We took our flyers, put them in the mail box and turned around to leave. Right then a lady from inside opened the door! We were so surprised! She even asked us if we were Mormon missionaries! It's not too common to meet someone who knows who we are. In amazement we asked how she knew we were Mormon. She said she had been going to a volunteer group the Elders had been working with for the past few years. She knew a little about the church and was willing to hear our message. She even invited us into her house to get out of the cold! It was my first time having a sit down lesson while housing! She is so sweet and invited us back next week! We are so excited to see her again!

I know that the Lord really does prepare people to hear our message! I feel so blessed for how much our Heavenly Father hears our prayers and sends us to the children he has prepared to meet us.
