The Deacon’s Corner
Brothers and Sisters,
I have been thinking about the effects of sin in our lives, brought on by the consequences of the fall. Thankfully, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit had a plan in place before the foundation of the world. The Lord knew that humanity would fail.
The word of God says in 2 Cor. 5:21, “for our sake he made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God”.
We are truly blessed to have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior to have given His life as a ransom to save us. He also grants us His perfect righteousness, as well as eternal life. He also asked the Father to send the Holy Spirit to dwell in us and with us, giving us power to resist and overcome sin’s power. These are some of the benefits we have as a result of His work: we have the power of His Grace, Righteousness, Truth, Peace, Love, Hope and Holiness, all spiritual blessings.
There are times when we as believers go through difficult circumstances, and at the end we find our faith has increased, and we have grown in greater understanding of the word of God.
We are called daily to mortify the deeds of the flesh, as in Gal 5:16-17 “But I say; walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for they are opposed of each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do”.
We have been brought out of the house of slavery to sin and into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ. For this alone He deserves all our praise, glory and honor. So let us pray for strength to live holy lives, to walk by faith and in the power He has given us, by His great love for us. We as believers repent of our sins until our dying day, not sometimes but always.
So let us not faint or grow weary, as we persevere in our desire to please the Lord, that we may hear our master reply, Mat 25:23a “Well done good and faithful servant”.
All glory unto the Lord,
Deacon Ronald Driscoll
