We worked so hard today trying to sort and price our zillions of clothing donations. We made some headway but are we exhausted! Gratefully we were able to sell a good amount of items at 50% off. There are lots of men’s shirts in mainly medium and large sizes all ready for Father’s Day.

In addition there are lots of white slacks, beach cover ups, shoes ( even size 11!), and other items. We even had two women split a purchase - one bought two lamp shades and the other the lamps!

Come on in and shop tomorrow. We need the room for more merchandise
which means you can come back of Saturday for another day at 50% off. And thank you for two more coat hangers for my collection!

The manager stopped by today to see if we had received and donations since we closed on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, we found some items by the top door of the shop. We are always grateful but sometimes we like to set some guidelines. Old drapes and curtains are sometimes difficult to sell if they are large sets. We recently found several bags of storage containers. While useful it takes too much time to match tops and bottoms.. also too many well used kitchen utensils are not very welcome if they are past their usefulness. Clothing or other items are difficult to store out of season. That is the same with holiday items that are not for several months. Winter clothing will be much more appreciated in Sept.or Oct.

Now, we do understand that often people have donations of such items when people are moving or a loved one has died.

We appreciate your donations but we are an elderly group of people who run the thrift shop. We need as much help as we can get in bringing big bags upstairs. For all the things we need to donate to one of our collection bins, that is another trip back down the stairs. And then we also have to store items for the next season in our bins that are housed in small storage areas.

Suggestions. Come and join us working at the thrift shop. Give us sterling silver or gold and diamonds. Now we know people are not going to give such items. Your time, your teenagers time, would be very welcome, however. Or if you are able to carry up your items, offer to take bags down to one of our designated bins, we will love you for ever.

The white bin is for clothing items that we have reviewed and deemed not salable or has already had two months of the floor. The yellow bin is is for other, non material items that have had a chance first in the shop.

If you have any questions please write your questions here or come in and ask us if we can use your donations.

Thank you to all of you who donate and purchase items. Without you we would not be celebrating our 30th anniversary in a few months. Just think of how many people and causes we have helped over the years!

On a personal note the manger collects vintage hammered aluminum and vintage coat hangers with advertising on them. Our list of food treats is longer!

Happy first Sunday of Pentecost (with some patriotic hymns because Monday was Memorial Day)!

Did you miss visiting us today? We missed you but will continue to have our 50% off sale for another week!

We were very happy to have three different people help us take extra items to our pass along bins. These bins are not for every day use but for extra clothing and other donations that are either already been on our racks, are not appropriate, etc. That means if you put items in the white or yellow bins we have not been able to try to sell them in the shop.

Today we had three people volunteer to carry the bags down the stairs. Our knees and ankles thank you!!! Charlie, the camera aficionado, took one or two bags, the same with Mathew, and also Bob. So generous and we are quite grateful.

At the end of the day two of us attended the graduation party of our longtime volunteer, Anna. She started with us during her high school years and has now finished college. She was always very good at learning the “business. “ Now the future is hers and we will see her soar.

If you want to know what we are all about at the Church of the Epiphany, church service is at 10 am on Sunday. All are welcome. If you want to know more about us, come and join us. All are welcome.

Two of us managed to sort through almost ALL of our donations from yesterday. We soon realized that there were few customers so er put up a post that EVERYTHING was only half price.

A few people came in but we are still so full that we will continue the sale on Saturday! Make us happy by buying so much we will be able to put out the rest of our stored summer merchandise. Right now we also have many bins of fall and winter items but they will not come out until September.

We also want to thank the great gentlemen who took our bags of extras to the two bins. It is such a help to have someone carry the bags for us. We are not as young as we once were and besides we were able to price almost all our donations because we did not have to take the time out to remove our extras.

See you on Saturday, 10-2.

Good news! We have so many new donations that we have decided EVERYTHING is half price! Come on down!

Remember how we were saying that we received so many donations a few days ago? Well it has been continuing. In fact I filled a large black bag with some of my own clothes and they are waiting at church to be sorted. (When you find so any great donations you need to clean out your own closet!)

Remember, we take clothing of all sizes, books, old cameras ( we even have a collector who checks in to see what we have), household items, collectibles, small tables, jewelry, scarves, and goodness only knows what will be awaiting us this morning! We really appreciate those of you who can carry your donations up those stairs. We also appreciate boxes that are small, more steps but not so heavy, bags smaller than large black garage bags (unless filled with lightweight fluffy comforters). We are unable to take heavy items, especially furniture, broken items, and soiled items. If you are unsure about items please contact us on this page. We have a bit of storage for out of season clothing or other seasonal items if you are moving and are unable to save it for later.

We don’t want to sound too particular but some of us are closer to 100 years than 50 years old. ( I was in my early 50’s when the Upper Room started - not any more!)

We hope to see many of you this week. Any young teens interested in volunteering ? Great way to fill some of your summer hours out of the house. Ladies of all ages but what about a gentleman or two? We already have one man who has been with us fr 8 years!

Time to get ready to go to the shop. I need to get a handle on what needs to be done this week! Come on in and check us out.

What a yucky day! Weather not nice but the customers were. We tried hard to put out many more items and sell as much as we could. Still not many takers on the $1 items from the men’s section. Too bad they think they don’t need some new things. Women never seem to think this way!

We did receive lots of new items. One person even donated two new wooden coat hanger with one being from a hotel and the other from a woman’s store. Yea! Thanks for adding to my collection!

Church service tomorrow at 10 am. We will be celebrating Pentecost and wearing red. This is to remind us of the tongues of fire on the disciples heads. We will not worry about the rain!
