For a holiday weekend we were quite busy. Two sisters and one spouse gave us $100 all together for their haul of purchases.

We had fun with stories about first jobs as well. Lots of donations and we were even able to pull out some fall and winter items rom the back storage area!

We did have one snafu with a woman’s sweater being put out with the men’s sweaters! We separated the two items but you never know when and if they will connect again.

The Vermont Store bathrobe was sold and is just waiting for a long cozy night in front of the fire. A camera was purchased by one of our other customers and as a bonus he found some extra rolls of print film.

Two of our church members spent a couple of hours cleaning and rearranging our free pantry. It is now clean, organized, and pretty full. We are so grateful to those who fill the pantry and those who donated and purchase items at the Upper Room. As well as those who find new items to take home! In addition one of our customers took a bunch of tubular coat hangers to Mrs. Culani for her seamstress business in Woodbury. This saved the manager a trip and was very appreciated. Mrs Culani appreciated the hangers as well.

Remember that our church services starts at 10 am tomorrow! We would love to see you!

Does anyone know a man who might need size 11 brand new tap shoes? One is by Capezio and the other Theatrical Footwear? Both are black and brand new. Perhaps to spread their dancing career?

We missed a couple of our regular workers today who were away doing other things! However, we were still able to sort and price quite a few donations.

We had some of our regular customers as well as a couple of new people. In the ways of my Brownie Troop song, one is silver and the other gold.

In fact we have available some new slip on sandals to round out the warm weather this week, with plenty of pants, sweaters, and even jackets to anticipate cooler days.

For those of you who might collect Revere Ware, there is a top of a double boiler that has a strainer on the bottom. I have never seen that before!

Come on in tomorrow and see what is donated and what you can add to your bargains. It looks as if we will be grateful to have no rain until evening.

Also, thank you to the person who donated many bars of soap, and some tooth paste for our friends in Waterbury. Please consider some donations to the Free Pantry. We can use more cereal for one thing and almost anything else you can think of. We still have shelf stable milk but it does go quickly.
Anyone want to pick up some $2 boxes of Mallowmars cookies. What a treat!

We are sorry that it was necessary to close early today. However, so many donations came in that we will be sorting for a few days. One lady loved the slinky silver evening dress but she did not take it a you can still try it on next week.

Lots of fall decor came in and out today as well. On such a beautiful day it is hard to believe that we will be celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving before long.

One gentleman came with some donations and questions about what we do take for resale. Clothing of all styles and sizes from slinky evening clothing, to children’s tiny sizes. Women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children and infants from casual to formal ware.

Seasonal items such as the fall decor, Halloween, including costumes, Thanksgiving and Christmas decor and items to grace the holiday tables. Sports wear, work clothing and clothing to work out, office wear- that covers a large selection! Party wear including two wonderful bright red coats for young girls to wear for Christmas parties or maybe a play with a holiday theme.

Sweat shirts, 1/4 zip tops, work shirts, dress shirts, coats, jackets, rain coats, hats, gloves, shoes boots, pocket books, business carriers for computers, and even suitcases.

Linens such as sheets, towels, bed spreads, quilts, and even aprons. Table linens, napkins,

Jewelry is a great seller, kitchen ware, cookware, dishes, glasses, serving pieces. Books, records, video games, and even cameras.

Seasonal decor (we even received our first Christmas tree stand today!), vintage items for the holiday that your children will never use or appreciate.

This is by no means ALL that we take. Right now we have a wonderful step stool to help a dog get into the bed they share with their humans. Pet coats, pet care items.

We also send items to Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries. Obviously we send warm clothing , but new socks, underwear, hats and gloves, are especially welcome. Recently a sleeping bag came in that immediately was sent along with our sandwich donations.

This is an extensive list. However, we can not take baby items for sale because the safety concerns change so quickly. Small chairs, tables, lamps, art work, are fine as long they are not too large or heavy to carry up and down the stairs. The manager does collect vintage wooden coat hangers with advertising, interesting hammered aluminum. What is your special request? Also we have lots of free coat hangers!

We need to let you know that the Upper Room Thrift Shop wil close at 12:30 pm tomorrow. There will be a funeral at 1 pm and we need the parking lot for for our guests.

We will still open at 10 pm and we know good shoppers can find all they want and need in 2.5 hours! Please make your shopping plans accordingly.

So far we plan to be open next Saturday on Labor Day weekend. What else would our workers do but work?

We hope to see you early on Saturday morning. Another bunch of fall decorations have arrived and what ever else you might need!

A beautiful day to put out some more fall clothing. We know we have not even gone past Labor Day but fall clothing and even a few winter coats do look rather cozy.

However, we do have one new pair of white sandals that we would love to go home with someone and not be put in a bin to save for next year. Nothing wrong with saving money on new fall and winter clothing and having a chance to slowly build your new wardrobe!

Come by on Saturday and check us out. Who knows what you might find! We will be open starting at 10 am, 262 Main Street North, Church of the Epiphany!

We have actually started putting out some fall, decorative items and clothing. And, they are selling.

We also have some art supplies which you might need for your fall foliage painting.

Hopefully we will be even more busy tomorrow.

We also had two kids helping us which was great. Several trips made by each of them with big black bags.

Guest wifi network is here!!
You may come across one of these new mesh routers when you visit. There are five hidden throughout the building. They allow us to bring high-speed internet to every area of the building without any wires! No longer blocked by thick stone walls, the signal can now pass from our office and sacristy through the stained glass windows into our historic sanctuary. Be sure to join our new guest network and enjoy free wifi - the password is posted in Staub Hall and in the Upper Room Thrift Shop.
